not all ideas are good ones.

I just realized I haven’t posted in a week – oops!

008

So I’ve been testing out ideas and techniques. Sometimes? The experiments and your creative vision just doesn’t work! Here are three such examples. Wasted energy? Paper? Nope. The paper can be recycled and I worked out what NOT to do with this stamp.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a new card. For now, I will try to get some sleep.

Fun with supplies!

So I’ve been a busy gal. BIG HUGE thanks to the contributors of my latest class Supplies On Hand! It was my crazy idea that maybe having a bunch of creative people share their ideas would help inspire more people, and oh boy. It’s been FANTASTIC! The final count isn’t quite in yet, but looks like we will end up with somewhere between 55-62 projects for this class. WOW!! I’ve been using up what I have on hand, challenging myself to come up with new ideas and designs, and I can’t say it enough: having a BLAST.

So blessed to be working with the talented crew of lovely ladies who contributed, and thankful for the amazing and inspiring students who joined in the fun. (You can still join in too, FYI!)

Here you see two peeks of two projects I’m really happy with – I’m so counting weeks (I can’t even count in months anymore, weeks sounds better!) until our first ever cruise and I’ve just been having the BEST time with this class. I always give my all to each and every class and this one? Well this one turned out better than I could have hoped for if I do say so myself!!

It’s not too late to join in, by the way! The last of the content will be loaded on Friday, and then the classroom will simply remain open and available for anyone who might care to pop back on and/or work at their own pace. I still have two “live craft” video sessions to film – so fun- and one last video to edit…

Foiled? Add some ink…

Goal: To be done with any Christmas shopping, and “to mail” crafting before November 1

Can I do it? I’m not so sure but I am falling in LOVE with the idea of doing any shopping very early, then simply sitting back and SOAKING UP the magic of the season. This week at the challenge blog “fall in love” is the theme, and I have to go with my current fixation (aka finishing Christmas shopping super early) and also with the technique used to create this card!

How-to is super easy. Just emboss foil cardstock. Then paint it green (I used some old acrylic paint I had laying around – any would do!). Then scrape off a LOT of the paint. A LOT. Now go to town with alcohol inks to color!

Once all that is done, all you need to do is add some embellishments and give it a good healthy squirt of my favorite perfect pearls mist. Done!

This is a favorite – and one I will actually use to top a gift box and not as a card.

Supplies Used:

50dollar_voucher_600px

Simon is, as always, offering a generous $50 voucher that will be randomly drawn from the eligible entries each week. Join the fun by creating a project this week – and for your chance to win a $50 voucher you should hop on over and join in the challenge here. What will you feature? We can’t wait to see!

Scrapbook Soup!

SS 401-2 PIC 1

It seems like so long ago… when I flew to Cleveland, Ohio (aka the city I never actually ate in!) to film a few segments with Julie Fei-Fan Balzer for Scrapbook Soup! I’m excited to tell you the first of these episodes is now up, and will be up for the next week…

I used one of my favorite distress ink mini techniques on this card – and yeah things get good and messy!

401 Cards
Make your own special occasion with a unique card. First, Jenn Mason creates a photo card. Next, May Flaum uses a stamped image for her card design. Host Julie Fei-Fan Balzer interviews Kazan Clark. Then, Julie shows how to create a card background using photo corners. Last, Julie creates a card with a house shaped cut out.

Scrappy and the Copic class…

IMG_6126

Aka that time I took Scrappy with me to take a class from the FANTASTIC Sandy Allnock to get our first real lesson in Copic coloring. First we went to Hero Arts and hung out with some favorite people, then it was over to Scrapbook Territory for shopping and class.

I know! We are supposed to be USING and not buying new stash. Whooooops.

After some trial and error and testing things and tips from Sandy… I found a technique I like and successfully colored a card front!

While I don’t think I’ll ever be a Copic master, it was really fun to sit, color, and learn. I’m so glad it all worked out – and that my tiny puppy companion was *so* good on her first crafty adventure too! Sandy was a great teacher – I hope to take a class from her again in the future!
