A gentleman caller…

I was just messing around yesterday afternoon in my studio and this gentleman stopped by.

stamped watercolor style (distress pens + water) he was the perfect addition to this painted tag base.

I do so love warming up and just playing. What will become of my gentleman caller? He might end up on a birthday gift as a topper/tag, added to a card, or maybe he’ll just hang out on my wall for a while.

How-to:

1. Ink flag stamp with red and blue distress ink carefully, stamp onto center of card. Coat with clear embossing powder and heat set.

2. On a separate sheet of paper, stamp USA with any ink (embossing or distress), then coat with black embossing powder, heat set, and cut out the letters.

3. Rub the background with some gathered twigs distress ink and let it dry for a minute. Then stamp with perfect medium (star stamp) several times, and brush sunflower sparkle perfect pearls over to add a subtle sparkle!

4. Finish the card by edging with blue ink, adding the “USA” with foam adhesive, and sticking the stars and words onto the card.

Today I’ve got a video tutorial up over at www.simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com for the “kraft” challenge. In that video I explain how I use embossing + distress paint to make colors show up beautifully on a kraft tag.

I broke into some of my new Tim Holtz goodies for this layout, and used my compass stamp as a base for my title – I LOVE using this stamp like this!

How-to:

1. Ink no.12 tag edges with blue distress ink, then mount two (3×5) photos to it. Adhere this to layout, cut off the excess tag that hangs over the edge.

2. Ink compass stamp with embossing ink, then stamp, coat in black powder, and heat set. Get out some UTEE in platinum while you’re at it, sprinkle it around the layout and heat from underneath (so the UTEE doesn’t fly away!

3. Stitch around the edge of the photos

4. Add gears & rub-ons to top. Then take travel stamp (stamp) and picked raspberry ink and edge along very top and bottom so just part shows.

5. Paint the #4 with picked raspberry distress, add to layout along with journaling and title stickers.

6. To finish the page, flick some dylusions for the blue dots.
