CHA 2015: More from Ranger Ink…

Let’s be honest – Tim Holtz and Dina Wakley stole the Ranger show for me. Between his announcement of 12 new distress colors (orchid-y purple… oh please…) to her paint tip tool… well I’m in love. I already posted about both of them (separately/previously) But WAIT! there’s more! Yes from new archival colors to more paste options Ranger has a lot. Here are my favorites.

Ranger Texture paste is excellent. Super light, very good to work with, dries fast. Now ranger introduces “transparent paste” in matte and gloss. Is this not just gel medium?! I don’t know… but I’ve pre-ordered my jars and will report back! ANY way I can get more pastes is always good in my book!

Which brings me to their texture tools. Perfect size and storage. great designs. Fantastic with paste. WONDERFUL for mixed media work. All around WIN here. Can’t wait! (yes, I’ll be sharing when I manage to get these!)

Not a must for me – because honestly I am currently overwhelmed with all the paint and ink options out there- but notable that Ranger has dye, pigment ink, and also new dabbers of paint.

Speaking of paint – there is now Dylusions paint. It’s more like a glaze/thin paint… it is interesting. I have a jar. Yes full review coming soon(ish)!

I just loved this journal cover…

Also that Dyan is doing her thing – and tapping into a trend I notice up and coming. That’s right. Skulls.

Will we see loads of them in sugar skull and other forms by Halloween? We shall see…

CHA 2015: Tim Holtz and Ranger Present the Distress Ink of the Month

cha (2) copy

While the suspense is KILLING me, I do believe the idea of releasing a new (surprise) Distress color each month is a wonderful idea. I love this presentation from Tim Holtz and Ranger for so many reasons:

  • gives us (the consumers) just one color a month to think about and/or consider adding in some form to our collections
  • lets us pick which products we want to add – no more waiting months for the spray or the marker or whatever item wasn’t offered at first!
  • gives store owners a wonderful opportunity to make an event out of the reveal each month, as well as a lovely little display for their stores
  • gives us all something to watch for each month!

I just love that from every aspect as consumers (or store owners!) Ranger has made this a really fun way to make 2015 the year of Distress Ink. I have several ideas rolling around my head for ways to showcase this and future colors – stay tuned! They’re keeping future colors VERY secret until reveal – so no I don’t know what else we’ll see!

Note for mini ink pad fans – they’ll release after four months (Example: Jan > April) in a set of four. All the existing/older colors of distress? Those are available in mini individually now!

My personal hope – and yes I want to go on record with this in case I’m right – is for some kind of an orchid color between pink and purple. Oh how I’d love to see that presented in a special month… May!! 😉

January’s Cracked Pistachio is now available for pre-order at Simon Says Stamp as a set and should be shipping soon. Ranger promises a color each month – but there is not a set reveal or shipping date at this time. I don’t know if they’ll change that or if we will simply have to stay tuned each month for the surprise…

CHA 2015: Dina Wakley for Ranger

I adore Dina Wakley – this is no secret. I strongly recommend her books, and I love her style as an artist. What I love the most though, is that she’s making products that will allow us to feel more inspired, and more able to create great art without any drawing talent. This appeals to me greatly!

From her sketchy girls to her scribbly birds – the six new sets of stamps released are fantastic. My personal three (that I pre-ordered already!) are the birds, flowers, and the heart with sentiment sets.

Her new paints are three metallic colors + black which should add a lot of possibility to her existing twelve colors.

CHA: Ranger (final post!)

Last – but not least- I’ve got some Ranger goodness to share! Let’s start with Dylusions! There are new stamps, but most exciting to me is the smaller sized art journal and the customizable stamp pad. I’ll be testing one of those out soon as I can and let you know what I think!

Claudine Hellmuth was there with new products – including some really cute new stencils. Check out those leaves!

CHA: Tim Holtz part 2

Tim Holtz did not disappoint this show – but then again we always know he’s going to raise the bar and bring the awesome. From loads of new dies to distress glitter to  my favorite – STENCILS – there is a lot to love. Last week I posted pics of his idea-ology booth and this week I’m back with more from CHA. These are pics of samples, his offerings at Ranger, etc. Enjoy!
