Checking in from Double Take

My Big Picture On-line class Double Take is off to a fantastic start! (check out the registration page for info) I am loving the great conversation on the message board as well as seeing how students are taking the sketches and making them work with their own photos + stories. Today I thought it would be fun to share a few layouts that students have already shared in our gallery!

Here’s a page by Deb:

This one was made by Emily:

Here is a layout from Crystal:

and finally here is a page by Jean:

Such fun to see everyone’s take on the 4 sketches this week, and seeing what people are scrapping. We have a great mix of digi and paper scrapbookers, and it’s such fun – I know it’s going to be a GREAT four weeks!!

Registration closes this Wednesday night – so come sign up if you’re wanting to join in!

Miss E meets her first Food Network Star…

Me and Miss E were gone all day yesterday… we had something very important planned…

She was somehow surprised to see the real Bobby Flay walk right in front of us. Also very nervous and excited. But that was our deal – this was her chance to meet Bobby, so she had to take her cookbook in to get it signed. I stood back…

She drew him photos of some of their mutual favorite foods. He talked to her about the pictures, about food… he was awesome. She was GLOWING when we walked out of the store.

“Bobby Flay is handsome in real life!” She exclaimed. She was wearing her BEST outfit for him, and she was thrilled to see him also wearing a pink shirt.

A memorable day indeed. Now to have Jason start cooking us stuff from Bobby’s new cookbook!!! (He touched it + signed it so all our dishes will come out great now, right?!)

NEW double page layout in honor of class!

In honor of my class starting today at Big Picture, here’s a double page layout made just this morning, and in under an hour. YES! it can be done!! Double pagers can be fun, embellishment filled, and quick if you want them to be. They can be anything a single pager can be!! Here’s the new page from this morning:

*LOVE* the Happy Days collection from Echo Park Paper that I used here. I’ll admit… at first I thought “meh”… that was until it showed up at my house after CHA. Once I opened up that paper pack I fell in LOVE!! I created this layout THIS MORNING – it’s a favorite formula of mine – just scrap straight across the page. All my photos are 4×6, the little ones at bottom are 2×2 Hipstamatic prints from my iPhone.

Such a happy playful line – and photos I had to work with!

Here’s a huge tip: only have single sheets of patterns you want to use on a double page layout? Save your patterned paper! Use a cardstock base (most of it gets covered anyhow!) and then you can make the most of the single-sheets of paper in a paper pack. For this layout I used stickers and the patterned paper I used is just 1 1/2 x 12 (ads/print was white I used stain to make it yellow) and 1/2 x 12 (red dots over that). EASY!

The sticker elements, the papers… independantly or together I really like how they work. Yep, I’m a big fan of this Happy Days line!

love that Rhonna…

If you haven’t checked out www.rhonnadesigns.com – well you need to. I’m in LOVE with all her new digi goodness, totally been using it in my crafting. Also LOVE her blog for inspiration + uplifting messages. Like these two images from her blog… love that rhonna.

I agree 110% with both of these statements.

Now please do excuse me as I rush off to try and do more than I might be capable of. 😉

10 new projects for fall | giftcard #1

Over the next three weeks I’ll be sharing TEN all new projects inspired by fall. Today, I’ve got a cute little gift tag, and a video that shows me making the tag too!

notes:

  • I got my limited edition Tim Holtz fall 2011 distress inks- and I’m loving them! used 2 of the 3 on this tag. They are EXCELLENT with my scattered straw distress products.
  • The Ranger Perfect pearls biscotti spray I use is fabulous – adds a golden-ish glimmer that doesn’t show up well in photos.
  • the goosebump spray I use dries clear + shiny and resists! So you see how it looks darker – that’s because the stain I then use over the tag doesn’t stick to it!
  • The star tag at bottom is from www.shopellesstudio.com – its’ one of their new halloween line tags!
  • want to see full supply list? It’s at the bottom of this post…

just in case you couldn’t tell – the video is double speed. I don’t create quite that fast.

Now all I need to do is attach this to a bag ‘o candy and mail it!
