Traveler’s Notebook: A blank world of possibility

You may have heard the term “Traveler’s Notebook” or journal and wondered what it’s all about. About eighteen months ago I did a post (here) about my delight of the rise of these little notebooks and their fancy covers. Today I want to explore a beautiful one from Prima Marketing and explain not only several of the possibilities, but how I intend to use this particular one.

What the heck is it? Small notebooks that can be bound (usually with elastic) in a traditionally leather cover designed to be very portable hence the name. The notebooks come in several sizes meant to coordinate with different sized covers. The one I use and show in this post is “standard” size which is about 4 1/4 x 8 1/4.  Continue reading “Traveler’s Notebook: A blank world of possibility”

trend | confetti burst

It is Monday June 11, and you know what that means – Camp Scrap is here!

Tune in every day for a new post – you can see the welcome post + basic info for Camp Scrap here, and of course you’re welcome to join the Big Picture community here too.

Let’s get this party started with some confetti burst inspiration!  Here is a page I created for the Creative Crop at Big Picture – it was my first attempt at a confetti-like burst:

Since then, I’ve really fallen in love with the idea of the embellishment burst, and I’ve come up with a system that works really well for me!

What you’ll need is some sequins, rhinestones, pearls, tiny punched paper, confetti, or other small accents. Tiny buttons, beads, even brads can work too. The point is that you’re gathering small things of varying size, shape, and material.

I created a brand new layout today for Camp Scrap featuring the tags + buttons of the always fabulous to share with you:

Also to kick off Camp Scrap – I’ve made a video for you. I am sharing my process for how I’m doing these little confetti bursts, where I’m putting them, and why I love them so much.

Spotlight | French General

There were a lot of fantastic products revealed at CHA, and I have a lot of favorites. That said, when asked what my #1 pick of the whole show would be, it’s got to be a line from Jolee’s Boutique.

Now I know, you might be skeptical at first but hear me out. French General is an amazing store I’ve had on my “must visit” list forever, and I drool over the offerings on their website on a very regular basis. They have licensed with EK/Jolee’s Boutique to produce a line of products. Here is their official video that was playing in the booth at CHA:

I saw a lot of “oh wow I love that” or “this is very cool” “this is exceptional” at the show. What makes this collection my #1 pick is that it gave me goosebumps. I lost my ability to speak. It absolutely surprised, delighted, amazed me, and made me SQUEAL in besotted glee.

The packaging is just as fun and can be used as can the products themselves. The textures and colors are perfection. The detail is incredible.

This line of products works beautifully all on it’s own, or mixed with other brands as well. I could see so many uses and applications – and I will be sharing my ideas with you. I want to share a lot more of my photos with you, but not post 40+ pictures here so I’ve mixed them into a slide show of sorts (video) with my favorite song of the moment. (I didn’t have any French inspired music – I should!)

For more about French General visit their website If you’re in the Los Angeles area, go visit the shop!

Watch for a lot of French General projects coming from me (as soon as I can get product!) – I have so many ideas for this line. I can hardly wait.
