Friday night round up: {prizeS inside}

1. There are mega digi sales going on this weekend ladies & gents. If you’re joining in my hybrid class that starts next week – you might look for a goodie or two at www.houseof3.com (40% birthday sale!).  I’d also suggest scooting over to www.designerdigitals.com this weekend. Saturday the 20th they’re having all-day chats with their superstar team of designers – AND during chats giving away digi freebies and EVERYTHING is 30% off too. WHOA.

Secret: At 9pm EST on Saturday the 20th (That’s 6pm West Coast time) in the www.designerdigitals.com  chat room I’m going to pop in and give away a seat in my Hybrid Class!!! That’s right if you come over & join in you could win. Don’t be late!  (link to class info: http://www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com/gohybrid.php)

2. I’m neck deep in double secret stuff. In the best ways. Sorry to tease, but I’m kinda sorta excited.

3. my precious. If I look like the photo above at all right now, well… gollum and I each have our own tastes but I like to think if distress inks existed in lord of the rings, they’d totally be like that magic ring except for good.

4. If #3 has you lost or confused let me explain in more normal terms: I’ve been playing with the 12 new colors of Tim’s distress inks since CHA. Yes, I’m an insanely lucky girl and I have I ever mentioned I love my jobs?! The colors are off the hook awesome and I can’t say enough good things. For my rave review of these inks check out my newest article here: http://www.scrapbookupdate.com/2010/02/19/tim-holtz-distress-inks-12-new-colors-to-love/

5. Funny thing about that ink pad Gollum is holding. I found an extra one while I was cleaning up here just now. Magic Fairies? Good people at Ranger slipped me two at the show? Hand of fate? I don’t know, but I do know I oughta share. It could be yours, if you simply leave a comment here & tell me what you’d do with a tumbled glass ink pad.

and don’t forget! 9pm EST Saturday the 20th for a chance to win a spot in class!!

Webster’s Hybrid Pages

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Webster’s Pages. How could I not be?! They’re super nice over there and they design amazing, beautiful stuff.

Want in on a secret? In my Big Picture class that starts on the 25th (in one week!!) there is a bonus handout showing how I use their digital products (available at www.websterspages.com) + their paper goodies one of the weeks. I really like how beautiful the products are – and they are very easy to work with.

Yes, everything can be used in Word. Just insert the images (photos, papers, embellishments – they’re all “pictures” in Word)

When you do that, you can go pull up files that you want to play with…

Then just arrange as you like. For this page I used images (sized small) and my handy underscore key _ _ _ to create journaling papers. I also printed a patterned paper sized to 6×6. This whole deal? 7 minutes tops!! I’m a big believer in doing things the easy way – and that hybrid does not = hard. To get your ___lines___ so close to the images just make sure you change the orientation from “in line with text” to “tight”. Then you can add in lines at will. I skipped a line in between to give myself more space.

Time to print onto cardstock and PLAY!

Just cut out & go.

If you’ve got extra that’s ok. Just save for future use!

Webster’s Pages designs such beautiful stuff – most of the things I used in this layout are from their Postcards from Paris line. *so* pretty.

I also used (American Crafts) embossed cardstock brushed with bundled sage distress ink.

I love that they do vellum and unique embellishments too.

I like how quick & easy I can print & use their digital offerings.

www.scrapbook.com carries a lot of their stuff – and I see that www.twopeasinabucket has their new 2010 papers in already!

I’m debating what I want to buy first – while waiting for the trims, sparklers, and other dreamy bits & pieces to release! In the meantime, I’ll keep making quick & easy digital pages.

Happy Crafting!

Oh my darling I…

can’t get enough of these snacks (oh baby).

Do you care to know what I eat while I’m getting my creative groove on? I have no idea but I am going to share anyhow, after all I already took the photo…

See’s milk chocolate drops. Think BIG & creamy chocolate chips. So awesome. They don’t have them 0n-line that I can find, but they’re in stores. SO so simple & good. Just a few go a long way.

Chex Mix. Has to be from store in package. No, I can’t make it myself it’s just not the same. ONLY the ‘regular’ kind too. Nothing else does it for me. Fun fact: the girls eat all the pretzels out of the mix, I eat the rest.

Darrell Lea liquorice. The package says it’s an Australian treat. I don’t know where I got it. I’ve  had green apple & strawberry flavors. Like nothing I’ve ever had… it’s AMAZING. Another new favorite from the land down under.

*sigh*

Thing is, I should probably not keep any of these things in the house… if I ever want to get rid of the ‘fanny pack ‘o fat’ I’ve been sporting since E was born, that is. Oh yes, I ration out my alloted amount (see above) but still. I should chomp on a few carrot sticks and drink unsweetened green tea or something.

(watch for flying pigs and creative slumps if that ever actually happens!!)

PS – I’ve got a new layout + guest blog post over at the Big Picture blog today!

taking requests.

I’m printing out some stuff (like this ‘shiny things’ word art by Jodie McNally) and incorporating them into my scrapbooking. If you break hybrid scrapbooking down to taking (anything) a thing or three from computer and printing… it really can be that easy. If you really go look at your supplies what are they? Letter stickers are mostly based off fonts. papers are largely designed digitally. The same with so many of your paper things – there really doesn’t need to be such a divide or so much scary mystery surrounding hybrid crafting. (Most of us have been doing it all along and not even realizing it!)

Something printed off computer + paper pretties = hybrid. Simple. Lovely.

Over the next few weeks I’d like to create more to share here, and perhaps some instruction as well. I’m posting tonight to see if you have any input, suggestions, or requests. I have one request in my in-box to see some of my work with Webster’s Pages so that’s up on the ‘create it’ block right now. Anyone else?
