A week goes by…

DSC_2255

I honestly would normally NOT post to say “sorry for not posting”… but it’s where I’m at. I’ve been struggling a lot with pain and injury – and having a tough time putting on a smile to post happy craftiness. I really prefer to keep my personal/problems off the blog but realizing it’s been a week since I posted? Well I figured I would share just a bit. Today was a really good day I got to see a specialist that looked at my MRI/Xray/details and we have a plan. That plan is going to really restrict what I’m up to for a few weeks at least- but I have a few projects in the hopper so you won’t see much of a disruption.

I will be back to explain more soon – and before that I’ll be posting a few projects/videos that I haven’t gotten around to blogging yet! I’m just slow moving – and don’t worry taking care!

I hope you’re having a lovely April so far.

Today I’m excited to share a few project links-

Ashli Oliver has a great art journal post (here) and another on a mixed media scrapbook page.

Audrey Pettit has an awesome post here on her blog featuring fabric creations.

These two ladies are part of a group of creative that have a number of 28 Lilac Lane products ready to create, share, and inspire! No formal team here – just some ladies that always inspire me and that are known for sharing beautiful projects and posts all the time. And that want to share some 28 Lilac Lane fun as well!  Watch their blogs, along with Emma Williams, Chari Moss, and Nina-Marie Trapani for more inspiration. These ladies are also on instagram (Nina-Marie just posted this sneak!) as well as other social media channels if you want to check out more.

Of course if YOU create something with 28 Lilac Lane, spot it in your local shop or get some for yourself – do share! I’m wanting to share link-ups and give shout-outs to the whole creative community in these monthly (or so) posts. I’m so grateful for the outpouring of love and the strong response to my line so far – can’t wait to see what YOU MAKE!! So please, do share.

embrace the journey: horse card

toasted_horse copy

This is one of the samples I made for CHA (for my new line 28 Lilac Lane) featuring the toasted graham bottle of embellishments. The whole card was done with distress ink + water. Really! The stamp used is one I found a while back at my local Michael’s.

Would you like to see a video how-to? Christine of ScrapTime filmed me at CHA and you can see it here!

Good brown embellishments are hard to find, so this bottle is a favorite for sure! Of course every one is a favorite. Want a fun fact about the Toasted Graham bottle? One of the colors is matched to my dog Scrappy’s chin – an area that we describe as graham colored.

The buttons & embellishments of 28 Lilac Lane will be coming to a store near you SO SOON! BE sure to check with your favorite shop if they’ve ordered- because the bottles begin shipping oh so soon and the kits are available/shipping now!

Creatively Brave.

I know it’s not always easy – but today I want to encourage you to do something brave. It doesn’t have to be big or grand, fancy or impressive. Do something (creatively) brave that scares you… and see how ok it will be.

It is so hard to step outside of that known zone, that comfortable area, but trust me. It’s worth it. I mean really, what’s the worst thing that can happen? A card is ugly? A scrapbook layout ruined? A piece of paper becomes garbage? Taking a creative leap of faith to try something new – big or small – is so rewarding.

The consequences of being creatively brave aren’t so dire.

I’ve learned that the success or failure really isn’t the point, and to be honest judging that isn’t a priority. It is the stepping outside the comfort zone, outside where I’m sure of myself and the DOING that is the reward in and of itself.

Finding that there’s more that I am capable of, seeing that something isn’t as scary as I thought, or simply that it’s worth it – these are my rewards. Once upon a time making my blog public was a huge leap. As I continue in my journey I keep on taking a deep breath, and trying the new. Testing the limits.

One such thing? More posts with my thoughts instead of worrying that people may only want to see the “best” projects I can offer and nothing else. Ah because the very best thing about being creatively brave?

It helps beat back the voices that say no, that say I can’t, and it feeds my positive self.

and isn’t that always a good thing? Keep on discovering my friends, and  I’ll keep sharing my journey with you as well..

Scrapbook Layout with Crate Paper & 28 Lilac Lane

DSC_2233

One of my favorite things about creating with my new line 28 Lilac Lane? The kits and bottles play beautifully with all of my favorite papers, stickers, and other crafty supplies! Today’s project is a mix of the Just Peachy bottle, Attic Findings kit, and a lot of Maggie Holmes (mostly confetti line) for Crate Paper product.

This is a layout that was displayed at CHA – just love how it turned out! If you’re looking for some of these papers that I’ve used (affiliate link used) you can find them here at Scrapbook.com.
