Challenge: Transparent

50dollar_voucher_600pxAnother Monday, another challenge week! This week it is all about “Transparent” things. Simon is, as always, offering a generous $50 voucher that will be randomly drawn from the eligible entries each week. Join the fun by creating a project this week – and for your chance to win a $50 voucher you should hop on over and join in the challenge here.

So what did I create? Well I went with transparent embossing powder to create an Easter tag that will soon be sitting atop a gift for a special young lady.

Pretty simple how-to. Emboss with clear embossing powder. Spritz with dylusions colors (and then white). Stitch on some words, add rub-ons, and add some (misted/colored) ribbon and flowers!

LOVE how this turned out and the colors have me excited for spring. Flowers blooming, days getting longer – yep I’m excited about the new season and I’m ready to let my creative side show that as well!

This week’s challenge (and a tag)

50dollar_voucher_600px The challenge this week: “This is where the cowboy rides away…” Sunsets? Cowboys? Dusty roads and old west towns? Woodgrain and sand? I don’t know! It’s totally up to you and there are soooo many ways you could tie your project into this week’s challenge! I created a video (up over at www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge ) for my entry. Then I got to looking at one of my backgrounds and thinking perhaps I had a stamp (it is in fact, a chemist that I simply chopped off his test tube holding arm…) that looked rather like a blacksmith or bartender or some such crusty old west gentleman…

009

If you want the how-to I share how I aged the metal bits as well as created the background in my video post (over at the challenge blog today).

Challenge: Anything Goes!

I may be off at CHA running around and finding the latest and greatest, but I’ve also got to pause and join in the current challenge!

031

For this card I stenciled  the Chevron with festive berries distress ink, and then I used glossy gel medium and gold paint with the Numbered stencil for some texture. Mounted onto some patterned paper, added some stickers, and we’re set!

Note: the Chevron and Numbered stencils, as well as all of Tim’s new stencils are available for pre-order now!

I’ll be back with more CHA coverage (booths, favorites, and more!) so be sure to stay tuned. In the meantime – why not join the challenge?

ANYTHING goes – so go have some crafty fun!

Challenge: Blues

New Year, new challenges beginning once again over at the Monday challenge blog!

I’m kicking things off with a layout inspired by the Ocean Blue and Sea Glass ink pads and cardstocks now carried at Simon Says Stamp. These colors are so lovely – and I’m very excited about these ink pads. I will have to do a separate post about them – after CHA madness, that is! I used two different stencils, splattered mist, and well – just had a LOT of fun making this page!

I love these sketch-y alphabet stamps, and how lovely the ink pads + cardstock made everything!

If you’re a student in my stencil class – I’m putting up a bonus video walking through my process (and how I stenciled on this page) as well as working on a few more new videos + projects too! For more info on that class check out www.craftwithmay.com for details.

Simon Says: an ode to sunshine challenge

This week at Simon Says Stamp our Monday challenge is all about an ode to sunshine! I decided to make a summer page for my entry.

I had so much fun coloring with dylusions markers, using the stencil, and layering up ink and color for a simple page.
