Monday (witchy) challenge…

Witch Kraft is the title of this week’s challenge.

For my card base I:

1. Embossed a piece of foil cardstock

2. Painted it black, dried it, sanded off raised areas

3. Applied alcohol inks and dabbed here and there

4. Covered in Crackle Paint (clear) and let dry

5. Coated in a mixture of PPA and gold paint

6. Added a bit of green paint

Then all I did was to add on the kraft word stickers, stamped images, and stitch it to the base! This was a lot of fun and I love that I used the word witch and the kraft color – both words from this week’s challenge!

Challenge: Scratched Up

How to approach the challenge to be “scratched up” this week? I opted to think about the sand and how scratchy that can be, about how fun it is to age things with distress ink, and just cut loose with a fun tag.

Using paste for my background (ah how I love that texture!) and plenty of inky goodness this one came together quite easily. The metal word strip has paint applied then scratched off – love this technique to add color and contrast to these lovelies.

new video!

What is Ranger texture paste? It is a wonderful paste product – for those of you who like to stencil most especially. I posted a video to YouTube about it here.

What does this have to do with anything today? Well I also happen to have a new video project tutorial featuring it over on the Simon challenge blog today right here!

Challenge: Winged Things

I really can’t get enough of this stamp set, and I figured she was perfect for this week’s challenge. I pulled out my distress markers + water to color my lady, then cut her out and mounted her on foam adhesive. The background includes her wings – I just love the dimension this gives.

Projects like this are my favorite because they are simple yet a lot of coloring fun.

50dollar_voucher_600pxAnother Monday, another challenge week! This week it is all about ‘wings’ and as you can see I took that literally. From planes to feathers there are a lot of ways this could be interpreted!  Simon is, as always, offering a generous $50 voucher that will be randomly drawn from the eligible entries each week. Keep on fighting…

As I’ve posted before, I love to use motivational quotes and things that inspire me in my art journal. When I need a boost I can go through it, and I like just playing with color + words as well.

Today, Veronica Mars inspired me. She’s talking about staying in the fight (that is life), and says this..

Gesso, layers of color, a stencil, and some alphabet stickers are all I used on this. I tore the page out and mounted it on a fresh page because I didn’t like one of the sides. Love how it turned out!

An “anything goes” week sure does make it fun to cut loose and go whatever creative direction I like. I’ve really had a great time working more in my art journals too (I have a big and small Dylusions one).

What are you creating this week?
