Challenge: Paradise

031

This week our challenge is about paradise. I decided to be inspired in two ways. First, by warm tropical colors that make me think of Hawaii…

The second way was by playing with supplies I love to be in crafty paradise! I just love how this tag turned out. It was made in two sessions first the background stenciling, then I had to decide “ok… so what to put on this?!” and I got to play with my bird stamp and putting some bits and pieces onto this tag.

I got a little metal edge with my embossed (hand cut) heart element, and I had a lot of fun using red Dylusions paint + White Gesso + brown ink to create my background. Loads of mixed media elements happening – but simple card! The black words are from the new Tim Holtz Chit Chat… loving the bigger size!

H is for Holtz (as in amazing Cracked Pistachio Distress by Tim)

It is February. HOW did this happen? Well to celebrate I pulled out my cracked pistachio distress (yeah, all the forms) and played.

I’ve been watching Princess & The Frog (one of the BEST of Disney movies… which is saying something!) and this color got me thinking… Mardi Gras! So lots of distress on the background then also cracked pistachio paint on the metal accent up top and a few playful do-dads here and there. It’s party time alright!

Cracked Pistachio = so awesome. Here’s a short video I made with a look at the forms and why I love it so…

This week my head is in the creative clouds..

021

This week… well my head really was up in the clouds as I COMPLETELY went off topic and was playing with the pretty kit and just, well, forgot the challenge theme! WHOOOPS!

It’s cool though – I can tie this in because the theme is “in the clouds”! Simon is, as always, offering a generous $50 voucher that will be randomly drawn from the eligible entries each week. My project started simple (haha) and actually took less than an hour of actual craft time. Want to see how I made it?  I made videos! Yes!

Monday Challenge: Inky Background

I used a rarely used (but needs a lot of ink!) Hero Arts background stamp then sprinkled black embossing powder on it (just randomly), and also some texture paste + stencil.

Along the edge stitching + ribbon + stars and words finish off my celestial inspired and very inky project.
