Tim Holtz: D&B layout

Today I’m sharing a layout I made for Tim Holtz (CHA) – it’s a fairly straightforward one too.

First off – I don’t know what I ever did without Tim’s design ruler. It’s great for tearing (seen on this layout) and also has holes so you can punch measured holes for stitching like I did on this layout.

I really wanted to play more with the kraft glassine, so I used these photos of Rebecca meeting ‘Wilderness Donald’ at Disney World. I *love* that kraft glassine so much! I crumpled it, then flattened and taped to paper and printed my journaling onto it. I also accented with stickles, a paper bow, and a few other fun details.

The edges of my paper bow are distressed with Tim’s distress tool.

Another great addition to my Disney World album! Glad to see that book starting to fill up!

Girls Paperie: cabin project

Another CHA project to share today… this one featuring Girls’ Paperie Kitch line (coming to stores VERY soon!)

Just a little log cabin… paper and glitter covered, naturally.

There isn’t too much to say on this one – I just cut paper strips and adhered with Crafty Power Tape (An AWESOME Scrapbook Adhesives product).

I had such a blast creating this special house…

I’m really a fan of altering wood stuff like this. SO pretty and it can be simple as you please.

Now, I just count the days (shouldn’t be too much longer…) until Kitch is available so I can play even more with this beautiful line…

Tim Holtz: Miss E age 5 layout

Happy National Crafting Month! Although, every month (not just March) is a crafty month around here! I thought I’d share a layout from CHA that I made (for Tim Holtz) today. I hope you enjoy!

So first off – I wove two pieces of paper (one new kraft resist with one from the vintage shabby pack) together and made sure to secure all edges really good. Then I used a dinner plate as a template and cut it into a circle. Ah but it wasn’t super stable so I put adhesive on the back and stuck it to another sheet of paper, which I cut in an imperfect circle around it. Then I stitched all around the edges (just for fun) and got to making my layout…

The frame around my photo was die cut with Tim’s bracket die. Most of the goodies used here are new (and from what I hear arriving in stores any day now!) – I’ll tell you a bit more about the layout:

Up at the top I hand cut some triangles to make a banner. Just for fun and because I’m still loving the banner look. I also chose to cut out the “note book” paper piece (from new Crowded Attic paper pad) and journal on the back of it. You can see that is mounted onto a kraft glassine envelope (below).

I also called in some favorites from Tim’s previous release – below you can see a strip of his ribbon, a die cut flourish (from Vintage Shabby paper), brads, and some tissue tape.

Unable to keep adding to this wild page – I used the new alpha parts for my title, which is inside a cut-out heart that has inked edges. You may also notice I used several number “5” elements in my design, to tie in with the theme and title.

I had such a good time with this layout. Pure crafty fun.

girls paperie: delight layout

This is my layout with the Girls’ Paperie Jubilee line (for CHA)…

I so ADORE this paper – and I really wanted to show off as much of it as I could so I made pinwheels with the portion of the paper that would have just been under the photo. (Cut it out, used cardstock instead to back that area. I do this often when I’ve got just one sheet of a pretty paper and I want to make it last!

I also cut out and placed on foam dots some triangles of paper (below) to add dimension to some of the layout. Wherever I did this, I also added a jeweled brad in the middle to tie it all together.

Then a few cool new girls paperie embellishments, a bit of stamping…

…and I had my layout. I added some yellow stickles to the photo frame, and some thread around it too (just to add support and stability since I’d cut such a hole in the background).

Just looking at this layout has me all excited to play more with these lines when they release next month, and to get working on class projects that incorporate some of these ideas too. Happy Wednesday!
