Challenge: Got Ink?

Use any ink in some way?! Oh the possibilities!

018

I decided to marry two of my favorites: Distress Ink and Hero Arts Shadow Ink pads. All this card took was those inks, paper, and stamps. (and a smidgen of thread) to make this card. LOVE making cards like this!

021

Steps:

1. Use Hero Shadow Inks to stamp the background (grey text), set aside. Then use shadow inks on white cardstock for the seal, leaves, and acorn. Cut these all out.

2. Stamp with distress ink the woodgrain stamp onto white paper.

3. Keep those distress inks out – and get a foam blending tool. Use brown to ink all over the background with text, flick with water and dry, then tear edges and dot with gold paint.

4. Assemble card! Background + cardstock strip + woodgrain background adhered together then mist with perfect pearls mist. Add a circle (hand cut) from cardstock and set n place.

5. Add the circle (hand cut, in my case) sentiment using foam adhesive. Also – if you’re so inclined rough those edges up with your scissors for a distressed look. Then attach the leaves and acorn, and stitch things into place. Once all of this is done adhere onto a standard (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) card!

and boom! One card ready to go.

Well… ok. Maybe it was less “boom” and more “3 episodes of New Girl later… it was done!” but you get the idea.

November already…

It’s hard to believe!

Here at my house November means Thanksgiving and cooling weather, but it is also when I complete most Christmas preparations so that I can relax and enjoy a slower paced December. Here’s a card I made using Tim Holtz products. The wheat is done with perfect pearls powder to achieve that great golden glow.

Speaking of Christmas prep – this class will open next week and I’m looking forward to sharing more of my projects, ideas, and tips both here and in class.

Halloween is nearly upon us and isn’t that spooky?! As we enjoy Girl Scout meetings, parties, and more I leave you with this quick card. Hope you’re enjoying a memorable week! I know I’m looking forward to the calmness next week will bring – and the chance to scrapbook many of the photos + memories from this fall so far!

Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp November 2013 Card Kit Blog Hop!

And that’s not all! It also includes a full roll of the new Kelly Purkey Ledger washi tape, three Doodlebug Designs Pixie Mini Sticks and some other great items to get those creative juices flowing! Did you know that you can subscribe to Simon Says Stamp’s monthly card kits for just $19.95 plus S&H every month?!

As always, I love taking part in Simon’s hops, and for this one I’ve made two projects. First up – a card.

044

I used a striped piece of paper + a number of stamps from this kit, and finished things off with sparkle.

054

I also was totally inspired by the stamps and papers to get working on a layout!

002

The “love this” stamp in this kit will definitely be used repeatedly on my layouts.

004

This layout made me realize (Whoops!) I forgot to share the finished journal I made for this trip- so I will be sure to share that next week. For now – here’s my page!

029

I used white memento luxe ink for the hearts (LOVE!) and I like those neutral papers so much mixed with the bits of color that came together so simply for this page. I tried fussing with it more – but nope. It wanted to just be as it is.

I thought I had posted this card already, but I can find it nowhere and now I think that I just forgot to do it. Life has been, oh, just a *tad* busy since I made it after all!

This is a card I made for Stamper’s Anonymous and can be seen in their catalog. Pretty cool stuff! What I love about these blueprint stamps, what makes me never get tired of them is how much fun they are to color. It’s like little coloring pages for inky crafters. On this one I used distress markers, a water brush, and misted water too. I really had fun making the feathers range from dark almost black to a lighter blue.
