Here’s a close-up shot of the “party jar” aka the jar where leftover bits & pieces from trade show demos were put. AKA a REALLY fun jar of embellishments!!

I’ve got some fun plans for spring and summer – I can’t wait to share more. For now I’ll let you know that next week here on the blog I’ll be getting crafty with my ScanNCut – and another National Craft Month prize! Stay tuned….

Watercolor Card with 28 Lilac Lane

DSC_3820

At long last – 28 Lilac Lane is shipping to stores! As I find stores (online) that have the products I will be sure to post/note here on my blog so that you know where to find the line. Today I’m celebrating by having a party (photos and details to come tomorrow!) at a local shop. In the meantime, here is a video and tutorial featuring the French Quarter kit that inspired our “color & embellish” card front make&take!

This is such a fun way to use bits and pieces from the kit, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my video!

I ended up adding a thank you (since I needed a thank you card!) and I love how it turned out. The stamp I used is an old Penny Black stamp- I’m a big fan of using and reusing and using again and again any stamp I buy. Got to get my money’s worth! Anyhow, this was a lot of fun and I hope you enjoyed it as well.

Simple hoop project

belle

I have long loved embroidery hoops, and lately I’ve been playing with growing my (so meager) skills! This simple hoop was created for the CHA trade show (my new embellishment line, 28 Lilac Lane) and features the Sunshine and Pretty Princess bottles and trim from the Hello, Cupcake kit. To create a project like this:

  1. Mark where the fabric will be, then draw a light line.
  2. Stitch fabric and backing material together (loop around near edge), then place into hoop.
  3. Stitch and pull tight the excess on the back of the hoop.
  4. Use PPA or other clear drying glue, place a bow, as well as all the buttons, beads, sequins, and pearls into place.

What I love about this project is that while I did stitch a bit, mostly this project was put together by just gluing! I do love a shortcut, and this was definitely quicker than hand stitching. It also allowed me to embellish the very edge where stitching wouldn’t be able to be done on a hoop like this.

Rainbow watercolor canvas

I had this silly idea, I wasn’t sure it would work but what the heck. I pulled out a white canvas board and some distress ink and stamped colors in a rainbow with the same butterfly stamp. Then I spritzed with water, then gold mist.

From there it didn’t need much! A quote chopped out of paper, a few dimensional butterflies cut out from a different butterfly stamp, and a scattering of random 28 Lilac Lane accents. I’ve said it before, but this line is so much fun to play with! What I love about this project is that I used bits and pieces from tons of the kits, and did so very sparingly. It didn’t need much!

I love this project so much- it was a CHA favorite for sure. I’ll be recreating (and filming a video) for a similar project soon. Thank you for all the kind words about my new embellishment line, and for all the love for all my projects that I’ve made so far! Now that the line is shipping to stores, I’ll be creating new videos, tutorials, and of course looking forward to seeing your creations!

This rainbow canvas reminds me that sometimes the simplest projects can be our favorites…

28 Lilac Lane: Love Story Kit

DSC_1783 copy

What could be more fun than playing with a lot of buttons? Creating a texture filled button-tastic card, of course! Hey guys I’m here today with a super quick share – a card I created for the CHA debut of my new line 28 Lilac Lane (kits now shipping!)

This card was created with the “Love Story” kit that is full of gold, white, and shades of red goodness, texture, and detail. Love this one so much – and while I am kicking it off with a Valentine it could be used for much more. I hope you enjoy this quick share – and have a great day!
