Journaling is hard. Even for professional writers, deciding what to say on a layout can be truly challenging, let alone figuring out how to make it authentic, creative, and meaningful. But struggle no more, because help is on the way!

Journaling that Matters is packed with 51 easy tips to help you write from the heart without breaking a sweat. You’ll love the expert advice, inspirational layouts, practical tips, and timeless suggestions that are suitable for writers of all levels—from the most experienced journalers to the most insecure. Kelly, Angie, and their eight talented contributors will help you unlock important stories and tell them with confidence. Also featuring the work of: Linda Barber, Moon Ko, Donna Jannuzzi, Layle Koncar, Audrey Neal, Keshet Shenkar, Wendy Smedley, and Stephanie Wheeler.

I’ve already dug into this e-book a bit – it’s a winner for sure. What could be better? Ella wants me to give a copy away!!

To be entered, just leave a comment here and if you’re so inclined – share your favorite method of journaling or some other journaling-related item of interest. I’ll draw a winner on November 3 and announce here on my blog.

Happy Journaling!!

the Halloween Bake Sale

Actually, these were for the Cake Walk… but bake sale, cake walk… same difference. It’s not a new thing to me, but I had fun with Elizabeth’s first school one. I wanted to see if I could make some fun looking things (and keep cost LOW)…

First: Made a fun tag & tie for this festive cake. It’s just funfetti cake + matching frosting. EASY.

Then with the other 1/2 we got silly. The stem + leaf are just cardstock glue-dotted onto the plastic wrap – in no way touching/bothering the cake.

Finally we went for minis. Brownie bites baked from a mix + candies + a fun tag.

The thing about baked goods for stuff like this is that IT IS OK to just go for quick & easy. Nobody is going to judge if you just use mixes and don’t bake up something original and from scratch. SOMETIMES QUICK AND EASY IS TOTALLY THE WAY TO GO!!!

On the tags and such primarily I used Girls’ Paperie Toil & Trouble line (which you can see more of in THIS article I wrote). LOVE Margie’s stuff – and this Halloween line is just so fun. I love adding a bit of crafty goodness to things – it just makes me smile.

Happy (holiday) crafting everyone!!!

ladies: do your thing.

The last few days I just keep reminding myself to just do my thing. Not get into anybody else’s drama (crap) and just keep focused on the good stuff. Cuz that happy stuff? It’s contagious. So much ick can be beaten back if you choose happy. (or, if you prefer focus in the ick and let it eat you alive, hey- it’s your life)

Ok, so Some iPhone pics this week…

Super Girl.

Becca MUST be Rapunzel (because, and I quote “I am fashion”)

Adding another project to my 11/6 class @ Scrapbook Territory in Berkeley, CA.

Loving this Halloween/Monster art E did for my grandma.

Becca does art too.

For those who saw my ‘desk’ video and thought it wasn’t that bad… HA! You didn’t see the under-side… it’s SCARY up in here y’all!!

Made my pot roast last night (I always mix up “how” on veggies, but basic prep remains same… so good…

…and otherwise just doing my thing. Choosing to be happy about seeing a lot of my relatives over next 5-7 days and finding silver linings and good in everything I can.

Happy Wednesday

well ok then.

Plans change. things move. life gets wild.

I’m gonna roll with it. Just like after scaring me (I full on jumped) with an old Halloween mask of ours, I asked Elizabeth to re-create so I could take a photo. Love how Becca is hanging out with her bowl of chex mix.

Anyhow. I can not remember what I meant to blog about today, and all the things I can think of require photos I don’t yet have, but I wanted to share something. So there’s a glimpse into spooky town. aka Flaum-ville.

Hope you choose some happy things to do & see today.
