workin’ matilda

matilda (aka my sewing machine) has been a very nice friend lately. She’s stitching on a lot of paper and scrapbook layouts, but she’s not complaining. Nope. she’s being real cooperative. I don’t dare say I’ve told her who’s boss… because I know darn well it’s up to her and the sewing goddesses whether or not I succeed or fail at my simple projects!

I still only straight or zig-zag stitch… but enjoying working more machine stitching into my scrapbook layouts. I’m really into the look I get.

This layout is all from the Jenni Bowlin September kit. That’s Elizabeth a little over 2 years ago at my mom’s cabin. LOVE that cabbage rose stamp. After making this page I’ve decided I really feel like doing a project with some ruffles. Ribbon? paper? fabric? dunno.

I’m going to go talk to Matilda about it and see if she’s down with the idea.

a day in photos

Well it’s Tuesday and Jason is home (hooray!) so I’ve decided to make today the photoshoping and uploading of photos to be ordered day. It’s also going to be post office, birthday present shipping, and dusting day. In sorting through photos (ones I’ve taken, ones I’ve had to upload for work, etc…) I found some I thought I’d share this morning.

First of all, this is crepe suzette’s pony (from strawberry shortcake). For the record strawberry shortcake toys can NOT be found around here so thank goodness for ebay stores. Elizabeth earned her as a special treat, and I am sure I’m going to hear “when is crepe suzette’s pony coming?” about 10,000 times over next 2-3 days until she is here. E has never gotten a S.S. toy before… so she’s pretty pumped.

next up this is the POTD (project of the day) over at www.fiskarscrafts.com. Lisa Storms made this christmas planner… and I’m thinking it’s about time I made my own!! Got a lot of homemade goodness and such to get started on soon!!

Rebecca can now sit/climb down the stairs… which is a HUGE relief. Now I don’t have to freak if she is upstairs because she knows how to get down! (go ahead girl- get down!)

While I love getting my photos sorting, deleting, and editing a few isn’t my favorite task when there are so many other fun things to do! However- finding photos like this of E and my sister… well I love it. So I’m off to edit land and to see what other treasures I uncover. I’ll be back with a layout, and later in the week a prize…

speaking of recipes…

Since I’m waiting for glue to dry + working on top secret stuff I thought I’d share a few sneak peeks from my new Big Picture class.

I was looking through the content for my “scrapbook recipes” class that starts in a few weeks- and I have to tell you it is *packed* with layouts! (I lost count at 46!!) With a cost of $18 for registration it’s really an AWESOME deal for a month long class.

Each week has a different focus (photo, paper, embellishment, journaling) and along with the various recipes I also provide 2-3 examples of each. In addition there is a bonus handout each week, plus we’ll have chats and there is a message board to communicate with me and the others in class. It really has been a super fun experience to create- and I can’t wait to share with everyone in class!!

If you want more info about this class you can check it out here: http://www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com/recipes.php

lily lightly + so what

Hooray! Got a “no pressure” layout done this afternoon, and it feels great to be productive creatively again. By no pressure I mean it’s totally 110% just for fun, no expectations and not even possibly for any assignment or anything. So fun!!! Since left to my own choices I always choose GIRLY colors and styles- this was pure joy and I went so crazy I even put hearts above the i in the title. awww. (more glitter! bring it!)

Ok, so Elizabeth gets a new pony every now and then- this one was special from daddy. We ordered her up on-line and had to wait and wait… but when she finally came it was a BIG event and she is extra special because her horn lights up and she has a cape and SHOES!! (the stuff of girly dreams!) I used my german glass glitter (yeah!) to accent, as well as my nifty scallop trimmer blade, some heidi grace flowers, doodlebug ribbon, and YUM american crafts glitter letters to name a few things. Oh those glitter letters. I knew I’d need purple ones some day.

Another favorite used on this was my pink slick writer (American Crafts). I swear by these things! The fine point I have about 5 black ones (in case I loose some!) and then a few colors too. They’ll write on darn near anything, and often I use them on photos or those slick journaling stickers that nothing else works on. LOVE them!

While crafting this afternoon I listened to Pink’s new-ish single “so what”… and I’ll tell you it’s stuck in my brain!! If you want to sing along with me you can check it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJZDsJ8UU64

Have a happy weekend!
