2013 Hero Arts love

Who loves Hero Arts stamps? This girl!!!

hero_1

I have been playing with some of the new 2013 releases, and let’s just say I am blown away and totally in love!! Really you could chose any of them and be happy, and I’m excited to have a selection already to play with. I used three of my favorite stamps on the card you see above. But really for a closer look, and for some stamp-spiration I’m going to share a video walking through my happy new stash of stamps, plans I have for them, and ideas too:

List of stamps/inks seen in video:

That charcoal ink pad so far is my #1 of the year! Serious love there. You can find all of the new Hero 2013 offerings at Simon Says Stamp.

These stamps are just getting warmed up – I have lots of plans for them! I wish you a long weekend of very happy crafting!

May’s pick | Hero Arts zig-zag background stamp

2012 is the year of the background stamp for me. I’m using them on any and everything in my path! There is one surprise though. If you’d asked me which of my stamps would be the most used, the most broken in, it wouldn’t have been this one. I’m not real into graphic looking stuff usually. Yet the simplicity and versatility of this one have proven themselves to me big time. This is a stamp I LOVE.

The Hero Arts Zig Zag stamp is ruling my stamping these last few months! It can be used so many ways, and it adds that subtle pattern and direction. Truly, I adore it.

I love layering it on as part of my background when building a tag, or stamping on a die cut. Above you can see it used with distress ink onto a damp tag (oh how I love the blended look it can get!)

Here I’ve used a distress marker to color just part of it. I’ve found myself stamping bits of it, like arrows really You cuold do any amount you like. You may notice my stamp is stained blue and green… well that’s because I use it with paint a ton too! Love the painted stamp look.

Finally here’s the first page I ever did with this stamp – using it to make my own patterned paper behind my photos. I have no doubt this stamp is going to be a favorite for a long while to come. I realize chevron pattern is something hot right now – but it’s also a classic zig-zag pattern and I don’t see it going anywhere in the near future. Like polka dots or stripes – it’s gonna be around.

Here’s a link to the stamp at simonsaysstamp.com – if you need enabling that is.

hearts + pink.

I believe in Valentine’s Day as a chance to share love in general. Friends, grandparents, children… I don’t believe in hyping up forced romance. That’s not real to me.

But love in general is always something I’m down to celebrate.

Today I want to share some favorite craft products that feature pink + hearts. Because I won’t lie – I love that Valentine’s Day features pink.

Basic Grey Kissing Booth.  this line makes me so happy. All that beautiful pink + chocolate-y brown. LOVE. The stitched heart paper is my favorite.

Hero Arts 4 Hearts stamps – they’re a great size + shape, and I find myself using them more often than any other heart stamps. I do love my Hero Arts stamps.

Tim Holtz heart (mini) dies – I use (and adore) these little hearts almost every week. They’re the perfect size + shape for most all my projects. I’m SO glad to have them! They’ll cut through all kinds of materials too- love that.

Doodlebug Twine – really anything Doodlebug is cute, but all their “cupcake” and “Bubblegum” colored (pink) supplies are my very favorites. I love their pink! This card of twine has quickly become a go-to for me this month.

Distress Stickles in Spun Sugar – I love worn lipstick, but Spun Sugar is my go-to soft pink distress stickles color. Love!

 Dear Lizzy Neapolitan trims

What are your favorite love (or red or pink) products? Do you like a bit of glitter with your love pages? Like some metallic added in? Or are you all over the map with how you scrapbook loved ones?

I’m off to my Big Picture class to issue a love-related challenge now – I challenge you as well – do some love-related craftiness and share!

All of these products + many more love, heart, and pink craft supplies can be found at simonsaysstamp.com

Distress + stamped tag

Where do I even begin with brushed corduroy distress stain?! It’s *THE* color I most wanted, and also the first color I got now that Tim Holtz distress stains are available in EVERY color.

Ah, but you know how it goes. Get something new that you’re dying to play with and suddenly it doesn’t work on anything you’ve got planned. But that’s ok. Know what you can do? A tag, card, or other small quick project. That’s just what I did this morning.

I pulled out my new + fabulous Hero Arts stamps (jewel daisy, old letter writing, and bird collage) and got busy. Layering colors, adding in some glossy accents, even a bit of my new favorite perfect pearls mist (sunflower sparkle)… what a fun way to start a day. Would you like to see how I did it? Here’s a video start > finish. Note – if you click on it you can watch in better resolution/HD + full screen too:

If you have questions feel free to ask here – I’m happy to answer questions. If you’re wanting more info on the distress stains then just stay tuned. This project was a warm up, I’m working on a full review for Scrapbook Update this week!

Happy creating…

Best of CHA: part 1

Note: all CHA photos in this post were taken by, and used with the permission of the AWESOMELY TALENTED Melissa aka The Scrappy Jedi. She rocks, and I thank her for telling me to have at her photo collection.

I’ve seen a lot of coverage from CHA which ended just a few days ago in Chicago. Know what? I’ve seen a LOT that I like. So I’m going to break down and share my favorite stuff. Not just brands – but specific products that I’m just totally in love with and want to have and cuddle craft with ASAP.

I must start with Studio Calico, whom I’ve said any number of times… ROCKS. They don’t just rock though, they continue to release new products and lines that work seemlessly with previous ones.

Their stuff is classic – I love it big. I could talk about all the WIN in their booth from mists to masks to paper that makes me want to weep with happy.

The book plate stickers (on left) and stamps (on right) pictured above made me squeal out loud when I saw them. There are few things that I love more than combining book elements/designs into my scrapbooking. Note: Studio Calico has teamed with Hero Arts to manufacture stamps that coordinate with their lines – a development that joins two of my favorite companies into what I think will be a great partnership. This stamp set (shown above on the right) is called “I Love Books”.

.

What makes My Mind’s Eye so incredibly appealing is how useful their product is. From paper to brads, and most especially the buttons shown above – it’s timeless and I know this will be a great addition to my scrapbook stash. The “Lost & Found 2” line is sure to be a hit – I know I’m anxious to play with it.

The buttons are my top pick – with the great colors, shapes, and detail they will be perfect accents to complete many craft projects to come. But I want the coordinating brads, and most of the paper too. *REAL BAD*

 .

Pink Paislee “Nantucket” Chipboard Tiles shown above, as well as darn near EVERY item Pink Paislee released are high on my “I want it now” list. I see so much possibility for doing some mosaic-inspired craft details, or using them as flower centers, or anything else! I can’t wait for this product to ship and to get my precious…

I mean, send me anything from this Pink Paislee release and I’d be in heaven. From the mistables to the papers, it’s all looking really great. Pink Paislee has once again created useful product that is fun and will work so well in so many of my projects. They’re always a favorite of mine – so I’m glad to see them continuing to rock the releases!

 .

Wraping up today’s “oh holy cute gimme. now. please!” I have October Afternoon. The Sasparilla line is made of pure cute – and I’m saving my Reno Rodeo photos (the few I remembered to take!) for this line. Adorable!! I think it would work great for any number of projects. The miscellany and Little Flyers (shown above) are by far my favorite pieces.

Oh sweet love… don’t even get me started on Sidewalks line from them! It’s SO me!! Adorable. Also think their mists look super cute, but as I’m on a no mist purchasing freeze, well, I’ll just have to admire from afar.

.

What are you looking forward to? This is just the tip of the iceberg for me – so stay tuned for more! Not just picks and favorites, but I’m also going to be sharing more of my CHA projects, videos, and so much more. I’ve got a lot in store – and posts queued up and waiting for their turn…
