work, play, work…

Being on multiple, and I do mean multiple, deadlines can be rough. However, I also find it often stimulates more ideas. Like- the more I do the more I think of to do. Weird, but it’s my brain and I live with it.

Here is a photo I just took for a promo for the weekend in St. Paul where I’m hosting, teaching, and having fun with the crew of the Scrapbook Shop. LOADS of Fiskars brands fun. Off to make that flier, take girls to fiesta days, edit a bunch of stuff for www.fiskarscrafts.com, and clean out the ‘ol in-box…

more from memory lane…

All week I was trying to think what our Memorial Day weekend traditions were growing up, and I really could not remember anything specific. Then, last night as I was trying to fall asleep I realized why. There was ALWAYS a major horse show that I’d be at all weekend. That was the tradition, and with any luck, I realized it would be happening less than an hour from my home!

This is a snapshot I took today of Keri- she trained in the same barn as me, and she’s doing my #1 all time favorite event- trail. The precision, fun practice, and ever changing course make this one event that I could never grow tired of doing or watching. It was so great to see her (and others from my barn) ride. I do miss the thrill of the show. The 5am wake ups, dirt, grime, sweat, smell of leather and horses… but I love that I can still visit that world now and again while living in my current adventures of life.

Less elegant- this is a horse in the barn who is BEAUTIFUL… but she wouldn’t pose. Nope. She wanted more of our carrots. I love when horses do this in the presence of treats.

and miss Rebecca. So cute. She’s wearing one of Elizabeth’s old sweaters that I’m crossing fingers I can dig up a photo of to compare…

and speaking of Miss E. She LOVES animals- especially dogs and horses. So she was in heaven all morning. I did tell her that while we could feed carrots there would be no riding. No, these are show horses and they’re here to ‘work’ and not to give rides to the likes of her. She understood for sure- and was totally happy just giving out carrots.

This is Tigo. You can see miss E is sharing her carrots. Have I mentioned horses LOVE she who holds the carrots? I used to travel with/show my horse at the same events as her. She’s still going strong and still super sweet. Her owner Dorothy offered Miss E a ride. She was so surprised, and so excited… I can still see the grin that was SO BIG I thought her chin would become detached from the rest of her face.

Overall, a good day here in the life of Flaum, and a lot of good times and memories brought back to the surface where I like them…

must haves.

Lil Davis is back. They are back on my must have list too. Oh yes. Pictured above is a chipboard button coated with their sunset glitter glaze. Don’t know where I’m headed with the button, just know I LOVE IT!! You can barely see behind my hand there is more lil davis goodness. I will share some of it here for sure. and over at www.fiskateers.com/blog next week…

This next batch of stuff, well, I’m beyond over the moon happy that it’s here. I am besotted. Someone fetch me a cup of tea, some buttons, and lace. I’m ready to rock it out with this stuff. Note: Besotted has long been a FAVORITE word of mine. Now I have to remember if it’s from Emma or what. Oh well, not trying to over think things this sleepy day. Anyhow, my point, I think I have one, is this:

and this.

and there’s more too. I hear that October Afternoon is just starting to ship… I can’t tell you how I ordered and got mine already. BUT you might notice there are 3-4 sheets of paper pictured above. That, my friends, is because there will be some sharing going on HERE. right here. Soon as I finish my homework…

(note: Miss E seems to be TIRED, but totally fine today…)

I wish this was me…

345am, and awake. Have been since 130. Will be for rest of day.

It’s not insomnia, it’s motherhood. I have a mystery (tummy) sick miss E. Mystery is why… I’ll probably never know but I can stay up with her as she watches movies and feels bad and I can try to make it less bad for her. That’s what us moms are for, right?

I wish this was me though…

I know it’s grainy, but when you sneak into a wee one’s room during mid-day nap to snap a sleeping photo you don’t exactly open windows or use a flash. Love it all the same. Looks so comfortable. wish it was me…

PS- right arm still teensy bit sore/sensitive from too much typing so I’ll be laying off the computer a bit longer… happy Thursday!

Elizabeth got her ears pierced yesterday, after a full week or more of begging. She was super good about it really- She understood there would be a earring, you know, PIERCING her ear. She’s totally showing off her sparkly lobes now. To anyone who comes close.

and here is miss Rebecca about 3 minutes ago.

I like to imagine what she’s thinking and what she would say if she could speak english. Right now I think I know. It would be something like this-

What do I touch first? Mommy never ever lets me in her studio. Oh man. So cool. I want to touch each thing and take it out of the box. Then step on them. Then growl like a bear. Then stand up. Then. Oh man. more things to touch. must. take. every. item. out. of. box.

disclaimer #1: no scrapbook supplies were harmed during this play session. All items were returned to rightful homes unharmed.

disclaimer #2: Yes, I am VERY aware of the mess that lurks behind that closet door. working on it now…
