2018: The year of Ultra Violet

According to Pantone – the color of the year is Ultra Violet. Now I’m a long time fan of purple – but I don’t craft a lot with purple. Why? It’s often tricky to match up with colors and I tend to be a “love it or hate it a lot” when it comes to crafting with my favorite color.

So as we kick off the new year here is my plan. I am going to look for great violet products and I will also look for good color combos and project ideas to share. My hope is to make this a monthly column – and I’ll round up and share! If you have ideas or suggestions I would LOVE to hear them!

As you can see here I am sharing a few of my favorite purple things, but I could use a few more! So feel free to leave a comment or add a note on the facebook group with your favorite products or color combinations! I am excited to kick off the year of ultra violet. Let’s party!

Welcome 2018!

A fresh new year is upon us – and while I don’t believe in resolutions (I’m a take action as things come up girl) I do like pausing to reflect on what has been going well and what I’m happy with. I’m excited by all of the new creative projects I have in the works – so I want to mention a few to you today!

I have a new FREE online class available now! You can check it out and sign up here.

Thanks So Much: Embossed card

Recently my friends at Ranger Ink sent me a box of their new “letter it” line to test out. Some of these products are versions of long time Ranger favorites – and already I am a fan! Today I have a short video tutorial to show off one of my favorites (embossing powder!) and give you a simple Thank You card idea (’tis the season!)

Iron-on to customize your gifts with the ScanNCut

When it comes to customizing things – the ScanNCut is my best friend!

disclaimer- I am a paid consultant for Brother, but all ideas and opinions shared by me are always my own.

Around this time of year I really love to add details to my projects and one of my favorite things to do any day of the year is adding Brother’s glitter iron-on material to things!

The process is always simple:

  • pick your design(s), turn any text backwards, and cut using ScanNCut
  • either weed out or simply remove the material from carrier sheet (depending on intricacy of design)
  • heat fabric with iron, place design(s), place fabric over, then iron until set

Seriously easy – and fun on everything from towels like this to tote bags to Tshirts! I made a quick YouTube video to show the process as well.

While my towel is going to be more as a hand towel – not for heavy duty scrubbing – you can find a lot of uses for glitter-ified stuff!

I am going to be gifting this to a friend along with some other dog themed goodies – what fun stuff have you been making to gift this year? I’d love to hear about your projects!
