May’s must haves: CHA 2012 Summer part 2 of 2

I’m back with part 2 of my must have list! Let’s get it started with Lily Bee  and their amazing Autumn Spice line that will have me covered with rich fall colors for my autumn crafting.

Speaking of fall, I’m digging Martha Stewart’s Halloween line that spans paper crafting to parties. Expect to see more with that here in October!

Elle’s Studio is not new in my studio, but it was their first trip to CHA and WOW! I am loving the seasonal goodness they have coming soon. Here’s a photo that Christine Urias took of the fall line of tags:

NOTE: You totally should check out Christine’s Flickr stream. She has a TON of CHA photos of product, projects, and more. I adore her for sharing all the pics that she does!!

Studio Calico (no surprise) had some great offerings. They especially knocked my socks off with this stencil – I see so many applications for it! For backgrounds, as finishing touches, with glossy gel medium… oh I can’t wait!

Now speaking of stencils (you know I love them!) Dina Wakley and Julie Fei-Fan Balzer have some outstanding offerings coming from the Crafter’s Workshop. I need just about every one. Pictured below are some of Julie’s – the one on the top right is my pick for MUST… though the ones in the middle are must-haves too.

Oh Webster’s Pages, you always wow me with detail, trim, and amazing designs. This release does not disappoint, and I can never say no to their cameos…

I’ve not forgotten Lawn Fawn either – their new Christmas line is adorable! I love that they’re doing paper + stickers now in addition to their cute stamps.

It is impossible to chose a fave from Heidi Swapp – she was absolutely on fire at this show, I want it all from the folders to the papers to the new mists. For this post, I’ll show these banner stickers – I’ve not seen anything quite like them before and need a ton.

Oh and speaking of banners, did you see Jenni Bowlin’s releases? Smokin’ I tell you! So much good stuff coming including some “true vintage” items as well. I’m gonna need these pennant tags soooo bad. It is like she’s combined a ton of my favorite things.

Speaking of hot, Basic Grey is absolutely, 100% on point with their new releases. I am *VERY* excited to see them teaming with Sassafras, rocking the Christmas, and bringing some awesome color palettes and designs into the fold. I want every single piece. For reals it is just that good. Soleil? Aspen Frost? Some Serenade? Oh yes. I want all 4 lines like NOW!! I’m just sharing a few fave imgs from them…

and that wraps up my must list (for now!)

Did you see something I missed? What is your favorite? Feel free to share! I look forward to discovering new products, as well as playing with as many of these amazing products as I can!

May’s must haves: CHA Summer 2012 part 1 of 2

CHA = craft and hobby association that holds a show twice a year where craft manufacturers debut new products.

I didn’t go to CHA-Summer, and let me tell you I’ve had one heck of a time digging up what the new goods will be!! Too many companies not revealing and/or too little coverage of the show floor I guess. I know this list is going to grow, and I know there are things I’ve not seen that are total May must-haves out there, but I wanted to do a “musts” post and share! These are the best of the best of what I’ve seen, and absolute musts for my shopping.

Now funny enough, this list has grown as I’ve researched for it. If you’d asked me a few weeks before the show I would have told you I found not a ton to be excited about – I’m GLAD to be proven wrong! Loads of great new stuff coming. I’m not organizing my list in any way, I’ve simply split it into two parts.

Let’s start with Amy Tangerine for American Crafts. I feel like her new line is absolute perfection for fall and back to school scrapbooking. It isn’t themed, but all those lovely browns, blues, and greens – not to mention my favorite item (the hearts pictured below) and the chevron woodgrain albums (awesome!) it’s a line I look forward to working with.

A big hit at the show with their killer releases was Glitz. Their three new lines are so awesome – I can’t wait to dig in. Blue Moon Scrapbooking already has some of their papers, I just need those embellishments now! Of the three, Cashmere Dame has my heart. Put pink with aqua and I’m a goner. LOVE!

Now let us check out the Tim Holtz blueprint stamps. These rock, AND they’re already in stock at Simon Says Stamp!! This set is the mini and includes all 12 designs, you can also get sets of 4 (leaves, halloween, christmas) in a larger size. I have the leaves, and I’m already loving them!

I need a lot of what Tim has coming out – from frosted film to metallic distress stains to those super cute trees and some of the new District Market too. Oh, and this list would not be complete without Tim’s new snowflake die. This makes me so excited – I can picture it on a layout, in gift wrapping stuff, home decor… can’t wait. I already pre-ordered mine.

What could be better than snowflakes? How about mixing them with a chevron pattern like Hero Arts did. *thud* LOVE this stamp!! [is it weird that I’m totally into all the holiday/winter products right now? I AM!]

Speaking of the holidays, the Pink Paislee City Sidewalks line is a must. Yes, the entire line! Pink Paislee rocked CHA with new products including additions to their Artisan Collection (LOVE!) – but City Sidewalks has really captured my attention and is my top pick from them. I see so much Christmas inspiration, but lots of bits could be used for anything really. Loving that olive green so much.

Now speaking of Santa, I’m absolutely positively going to have to have this paper by Crate Paper of the North Pole. Brilliant!

Oh and you know I love my Christmas goodies, and lucky for me CHA was FULL of Christmas. Here’s another must from Jillibean Soup. That floral pattern with the navy base slays me. I need 1000 sheets of it.

Finally rounding out my Christmas musts, Graphic 45’s Nutcracker Suite (the nutcracker paper in particular), and Rhonna Farrer’s line for My Mind’s Eye. Enabler note: Rhonna’s line is already out and available at 2peas!!

*sigh*

Excuse me while I fan myself – lot of hot crafty goodness in this post!!!

Stay tuned for part 2 coming tomorrow…

canvas | featuring Tim Holtz products

This is the final project I have to share from the things I created for Tim Holtz (seen at CHA). It was an idea that I’d had in my mind for quite a while, to do something with one of Tim’s canvases…

The great news is that it worked! The 12×12 burlap panel worked great – as it was a nice background already done for me I just added some paint, ink, paper, metal bits… and played!

Some distress stickles, embossing, some stenciling with die cuts…

I created this in one sitting. Because I was able to just use some paint and inks to do a bit of background (vs starting from scratch) it made this possible in a number of hours – vs the usual which is days.

In fact- I’m going to teach a class based off of the ideas I used here (students will have freedom to create ANY look/scene they choose) and teach it at Stamper’s Corner in Elk Grove on the 19th. Assuming I get the thumbs up from students – I may bring it to other stores and/or repeat it.

Here’s some insider info: I’m currently working on another one (with different product and look) that I will share next month during camp scrap.

layout | traveler featuring Tim Holtz product

This layout was originally seen at CHA, and features a lot of fantastic Tim Holtz products…

I knew when I first got the Tim Holtz Destinations paper pad that I wanted to cut out this “traveler” sign and use it in some way. I ended up layering all kinds of little stickers under it, and adding glossy accents to the sign to help it pop. There is also a generous misting of Biscotti perfect pearls mist going on too. It really sparkles in person.

If you couldn’t tell – I had a LOT of fun adding bits & pieces and layering things on this one.

The hearts are actually a scrap of paper left over after I die cut hearts… love using up scraps! That camera die is one I don’t have (I was sent the camera die cut out…) but I am thinking I need to get it asap! LOVE it.

mixing old  + new, re-coloring stuff, neutrals + bright colors… overall a totally “may” page. Good times.

Happy Scrapbook Day | layout featuring Tim Holtz

What better way to celebrate International Scrapbook day, than with Tim Holtz and the whole Ranger Ink crew?! I can’t think of anything that would be a bigger dream for most crafters – so I’m excited to be in New Jersey and at Ranger HQ learning all kinds of fabulous ideas right now!

In my absense, I’m leaving you with a special layout – one that I created for Tim Holtz featuring his new products (as seen at CHA). Enjoy!

This page is actually a pretty simple one. Lot of gold dabber paint (love the stuff!) some layered stickers, and some staples and of course I put to good use that paper for my journaling (it is all a part of the background paper)

I hope you have some crafty play time today – and whether you’re off at a family function, having a good time doing something crafty, or just playing along from home that you enjoy this Scrapbook holiday!!
