I’m totally in love with this Penny Black stamp. IN. LOVE. I’m also struggling with ways to make cards that I like.

I purchased this stamp with the thought that I could color it, stamp it onto a blank card, and be done. Guess what? It totally works. Today I’m going to share how that came out – and how I used distress inks + this stamp to make three stamped cards in less than 30 minutes!

All of the cards use distress colors in some way, and all are stamped onto the card. I really enjoyed tweaking what I did just slightly, but creating the same look on each card. Now let’s look at each one more closely:

Card #1: color the stamp with distress markers, then mist lightly with water and stamp onto blank card. Mist card with water, then perfect pearls mist, and edge (use blending tool) with seedless preserves distress ink.

Card #2: This is by far my favorite. Stamp the image onto the card with seedless preserves, then coat in clear embossing powder and use heat tool to set. Now color in the stamped image with distress markers. To finish, mist card with water and rub distress stain (milled lavender) around the card background. Edge with seedless preserves distress ink, then mist with water again to further blend.

Card #3: Color stamp with distress markers, mist with water, stamp, and then dry totally. Then stamp again (close but not exactly on top of first stamp) with embossing ink and coat with clear embossing powder. Heat set it. To finish rub distress stain or markers over the card, then mist with water to blend and add spots.

I got some creative play time, some lovely cards that could be given as a gift or used for any occasion, and I tried out some techniques too. Can’t beat that combination! Here are links (just click images) to the supplies used today:

It is Monday June 11, and you know what that means – Camp Scrap is here!

Let’s get this party started with some confetti burst inspiration!  Here is a page I created for the Creative Crop at Big Picture – it was my first attempt at a confetti-like burst:

Since then, I’ve really fallen in love with the idea of the embellishment burst, and I’ve come up with a system that works really well for me!

What you’ll need is some sequins, rhinestones, pearls, tiny punched paper, confetti, or other small accents. Tiny buttons, beads, even brads can work too. The point is that you’re gathering small things of varying size, shape, and material.

What is Camp Scrap? It is based off of my popular BPC class of the same name, and it is 7 weeks of nonstop creative play.

Where can I find all the Camp Scrap posts? All Camp Scrap posts will post to my blog, you can read them all (any time, for as long as I blog) here, or you can get posts delivered via email (sign up for that in my side-bar), read on google reader, etc.

What do I need to pack? Nothing! Whatever you have at home in your stash will work great.

What is the supply list? There isn’t one. I’m working from my stash, you can do the same. You may discover something new you want along the way – or you may rediscover treasure in your own stash. I will be posting supply lists for each project that I share – so you will be able to see exactly what I use each day.

Will there be assignments? Nope. Your participation could simply be reading and entering for prizes, creating based off of some of the ideas I share, or going totally your own direction. This is inspiration, zero pressure, no such thing as being “behind” kind of an event.

How often will you post projects? What will they be? Monday > Friday now through July 27 a new project will post. Tags, layouts, cards, altered projects… all kinds of paper crafts will be shown.

My fingers are ink covered

Between last week of school, camp scrap prep, and the new fall BPC class prep… well it has just been more than the usual busy. I’ve been spending hours on this blog actually… you’ll be seeing a lot very, very soon. In fact, I know what I can blog today… how about some sneak peeks of projects coming in the next few weeks?

Camp Scrap posts are getting drafted, videos uploaded, projects photographed. It all starts on Monday the 11th – but I might just start on Sunday the 10th with posting what you can expect for the first week.

So please excuse my radio silence [hey, I did give you 2 little sneak peeks there!] and just know it’ll be worth it…
