Scrapbooking: Banners & Die Cuts

My friends at Scrapbook.com asked me if they could send me some of their exclusive dies to play with – and today I’m using them to test out an idea for a scrapbook page! Note that affiliate links are used in this post.

I have been getting TONS of scrapbook layout requests as well as questions which makes me so happy – I love sharing scrapbooking ideas and tips! For a project like this my big tip is to use the edges of your photos as the line you attach or ground everything to.

This is going to do two things: It will keep your photos on top and at center focus, and it will create a great embellishing area for you with less design stress. I’m always one for low stress – so this is a great design I regularly use. Here is the YouTube video I created to share some tips as well as how I put this page together.

I had so much fun playing with and layering the various pieces and details of this scrapbook page. I have several tutorials in the works to share – from basics to “oh wow that’s crazy fun!” techniques coming soon. If you’ve got requests let me know!

Speaking of requests – some of you enjoy links/specific products so here are the supplies used – all from scrapbook.com:

Banner dies (Stars not used but shown in video)

28 Lilac Lane buttons

Maggie Holmes papers/ephemera “Carousel” collection

Gold alphabet “thickers” stickers

I also used liquid adhesive (PPA), gold thread, and white cardstock.

I just love how many possibilities nesting dies give me – and how many options I’ve got for these fun banners! I want to make a banner for my new studio setup (long story short – I need a banner made!) and I will be sure to share the how-to and results. Not to mention the star nesting dies I’ve got now – lots of ideas for those too…

One idea (or photo) at a time, I sure do love putting together scrapbooks! I hope you’ll stay tuned because I have a lot more ideas to share!

  1. Great LO May – I really like the banner within a banner that you did for your journaling. I also really like how you tied up that gold embroidery floss! Looking forward to seeing your other banner projects!
