Challenge: Scratched Up

161 copy

How to approach the challenge to be “scratched up” this week? I opted to think about the sand and how scratchy that can be, about how fun it is to age things with distress ink, and just cut loose with a fun tag.

Using paste for my background (ah how I love that texture!) and plenty of inky goodness this one came together quite easily. The metal word strip has paint applied then scratched off – love this technique to add color and contrast to these lovelies.

  1. I love these pretty blues. The little metal “found objects” plate turned out so cool after you inked and distressed it. Awesome, beachy, summery tag! Michelle t

  2. Pretty and summery! With summer winding down and the kiddos going back to school it is nice to have a little piece of summer on a tag!

  3. Beautiful tag May with such a summery vibe! Makes me want to go to the beach and start hunting for sand dollars! Love the textured background! Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Love this tag May… very summery colors… and the sand dollar is a lucky note for sure… love the entire tag… Great background texture… Love, Light and Peace…Bonnie

  5. Lovely tag May, love the combination of the delicate doily with the embossed textural background. Lovely sea colours too. Tracy x

  6. I adore how this tag turned out! I am so impressed by the clever stitching you added up the side and love the “wonky” look it has. The color palette makes me drool (in a good way) and I love all the layers of texture you created. That ribbon at the top is perfect, too!

  7. A really beautiful tag, May! I love the colour palette you’ve chosen to use as it captures the feel of summer so perfectly and works so well with the nautical stamps! 🙂
