Simon Says: CREATE!

So my friends at Simon called and asked if I would like to fly out and play for a weekend – um… YES!! This event is going to be super fun – I just had to share it with you all as soon as information was posted!! Basically there will be three classes each day (total of six classes) taught by amazing instructors including THREE Tim Holtz classes!! You can find more information about the classes here.

There will also be retreat/crafty space for those who are in the classes available (how cool is that?)

and…

if the event itself isn’t in your budget but you want to pop in and say hi- well then go right ahead! Simon will have an on-site shop. In fact- for most of the event I will be there doing live demos, creating up a storm, and maybe even filming a new YouTube video or two for my channel!

Registration opens this Friday for the event. Want more info? Go on over and check out Simon’s blog posting about it here.

I hope to see you in Columbus!!

Project Disney World #1

035

As I plan a trip for us to Disney World once again (HOOORAY!) I feel like I want to absolutely 100% FINISH the album from our trip back in 2010. So – for those who have been reading for a while that means “project life-inspired” layouts!!

First up: Pictures from around the Magic Kingdom.

031

Just random shots – none of them have a particular story but together they show a lot of great glimpses. Love that! Super simple page – I could have embellished more but I just kept it to an absolute minimum.

One down… several more to go! Stay tuned.

It’s coming! It is going to be different than years past- I’m excited to share more information soon!!

Right now- I would love your input via comment here or email (mflaum @ comcast . Net)

What topics would you love to see? What types of projects? What companies featured and/or give-aways from? Do you like shopping discount codes?

I think you’re going to love what I have so far, but I also would love some feedback. 🙂

Thanks!

May

Ps: 2 people who comment or email me will also be randomly drawn for all-access passes to camp scrap 2014…

Challenge: Journey

Embarking on a (cardmaking) journey today -perfect for when you want to go on a little creative journey but keep it simple too. Basically? Stamp a background, add it to some more layers, add finishing touches. Easy – and you can focus on the creative choices like ink color and playing.

006

1. Create background by stamping with distress ink (then dipping in water + drying totally)

2. Add washi tape, layer stamping – including embossing only half of the “journal” stamp, and stitch onto cardstock layers.

3. Add metal bits, the ruler ribbon and a raised stamped image as well as the word stickers.

016

Boom! Easy as one-two three- but a whole lot of fun!

50dollar_voucher_600pxAnother Monday, another challenge week! This week it is all about the journey. Simon is, as always, offering a generous $50 voucher that will be randomly drawn from the eligible entries each week. Join the fun by creating a project this week – and for your chance to win a $50 voucher you should hop on over and join in the challenge here.

Hello again Saturday… how did you get here?

How is it Saturday once again?! I keep trying to figure out how the days seem to be slipping by so quickly – not quite sure. I think this week had something to do with everyone getting the bug that has been going around, working on multiple new projects, moving the girls rooms around, and organizing events/future things as well.

020

If you like my birdie friend pictured above, you can see the full project, how-to, and a second project over at the Simon Says Stamp blog today as I’m guest posting. The post is here.

Now I’m back to work… then off to the movies with the girls. Got to keep the work/fun balance in check!
