weekend notes 2.9.2013

This week I guested over at the CK blog (see the post + full project here).

And now this weekend, if you need some entertainment for a few hours go check out the best thing I’ve ever seen on youtube. Let me explain. I’m a huge Pride & Prejudice fan, but I’m a purist. I don’t like fanfic or reinterpretation stuff when it comes to my Austen. There is a series (currently 86 episodes, and a new 3-5min episode gets added twice a week) that is a super clever re-telling of P&P… but modern day.

This is so well done it blows me away – the creators absolutely got to the heart of each character, and while obviously different than the original it captures it perfectly! It’s funny, silly, dramatic, and yeah. I couldn’t believe either how a stationary camera watching people have conversations in front of it could cause me to sit at full attention for as long as it did… and now have me waiting on Monday so a new video will come out. What will happen with Lydia?! When will we see Darcy again? Is Bing Lee going to see Jane soon?! Oh my.

Ok. So consider yourself enabled if you’re into that kind of thing. It’s made my weekend entertainment complete for sure.

Art Class with Wilna looks like an incredible look at this (amazing) scrapbooker’s process and ways of putting her signature artsy spin on her creations. The workshop is self paced so I’m keeping this one in mind – I think I will be taking it over spring break.

I think that is about it for now – I’m off to get back to crafting!

  1. Darn You May Flaum! It’s 1:30am and just finish watching all 86 episodes. I couldn’t stop! 🙂

  2. Ouch. I just finished a book where they shoot a very similar movie. I thought it most stupid.
But now I have to find this series and give it a try.

  3. Thank you so much for writing about the Lizzie Bennet Diaries! I think I have bronchitis, besides being trapped at home by a winter storm. This has been a fun way of spending the time.

  4. Thanks for the recommendation to watch the Lizzie Bennett Diaries! I have really been enjoying them. I’m already up to episode 86… They are perfect for while I’m working on my PhD ornaments for my Etsy shop! I think I”m going to be sad when I get to the end. It’s impressive how true to the story they’ve stayed… but at the same time, they’ve been very innovative!
