Scarlet Lime on Monday.

I’ve got some Scarlet Lime layouts to share today…

That’s Macaron with one O… NOT to be confused with a macarOOn which is a coconut thing that I do not favor. *LOVE* how this page came together with the March Scarlet Lime kit.

You can see the kits + the other designer’s work at www.scarletlime.com

Also: I blogged today on Scarlet Lime’s blog http://www.christytomlinson.typepad.com/the_scarlet_lime/ and share the pen technique you see above.

May I suggest…

I’m working on some favorite movies to watch while crafting and that inspire me (one of the emails for my next BPC class!) and I came across the movie trailer for Calamity Jane.

Now I recommend ALL things Doris Day. Adore her. But this? Well it’s my favorite. It even beats Pillow Talk. Another favorite featuring horses and cowgirls (well, a farmer) is Summer Stock.

Judy Garland + Gene Kelly = amazing.

Also? Old musicals are kid friendly, and make great viewing when you’re sick.

1 day at a time.

dragged self Dr. yesterday, as I’m still feverish, still all around weak ass loser. As Jason has been saying “we anticipate harvesting May’s organs any day now…” (he’s kidding! mostly…)

Well long story short I added a few conditions to my virus, and antibiotics are now in play. I believe this is 3rd or 4th time I’ve had to take them in my adult life, and certainly the first ear infection I’ve been treated for since my teen years. I feel so young. Also? I feel a SMIDGEN better today. I hesitate to even think that I feel better, lest I anger the flu gods… but it might be true. I actually sat up and worked at computer for a few hours today, climbed stairs in one swoop (vs my 2 stairs, rest, repeat, routine)… yeah.

This? One of my all time fave blunt cards. I *LOVE* it. Because as a girl who would have to exercise at a professional athlete level + eat super low cal to ever resemble “skinny” I will always be more on the sturdy side. I’m alright with that – and if anybody has a problem with it… well read the above card.

WHY do I bring this up randomly? Is it fever induced? I don’t think so… It’s just because I’m fist pumping due to exceptional weight loss. (8lbs now, I believe)

I’ve lost more with this virus than the rest of 2011 combined with gym efforts. how do you like them apples?

Don’t worry… I’m not wasting away. I have PLENTY of fatty tissue stored up still. Is just a silver lining…

Back to bed for me.

May update:

First off no, I don’t feel better. Still quite sick, and yes I’m quite over it mentally, though the bug is sticking with me.

But on to more fun stuff. Have you heard about May with May (aka ME)? It’s my new Big Picture Class, it runs May 1 – 31, and best of all, it’s only $19. It was really important to me to create something fun that was also budget friendly!

I will be sharing new projects, as well as some past favorite layouts, tips, products, and more. For the first time, there will be some videos (nothing fancy!) in class, and it should be a great way to make the most of my month!! The idea for class actually came from Stacy Julian, and I was totally digging the idea of daily inspiration & crafting all month long.

If you have questions feel free to ask them here, or email me at mflaum @ comcast . net – I’m happy to help. Otherwise, you can get more information and register here: http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/maywithmay.php

I am finishing up the final week of class now (well, once I’m feeling better that is!) and I am excited about all that is going into this class. Much like my last class (Creative Retreat) there won’t be mandatory assignments – so really no such thing as falling behind on this one. It’s also a one-time only class so you won’t see this material repeated.

Now from the adorable + great service files… gotta give shout out to www.modcloth.com

Love these dresses Belissima (above) and On the Job dress (below). they’re currently on my wish/maybe list…

Not just adorable dresses and such, but FANTASTIC service. Fast returns, and I recently had a dress I bought go on sale – they offered me the price difference in store credit when I asked. Cool.

As I’ve been confined to bed or couch for 10 days and counting now, I’ve read a few books. For whatever reason mostly my sick self wants to read historical romance. Got lucky and read some awesome ones – Courtney Milan’s Unveiled and Julie Anne Long’s What I Did for a Duke. I also recommend (from same genre) When Beauty Tamed the Beast (Eloisa James)  and Romancing Mr. Bridgerton (Julia Quinn). Of course I enjoy a wide variety of fiction – and I have more to suggest that I’ll mention next time.

On the upside of being sick? I’m totally NOT into food. The mere thought of chocolate is repulsive. (thus further proof of how sick I am). Maybe my jeans will fit extra good next week when I go to South Carolina.

for now I’ll go back to being cozy with my grandma-made quilt and watch some Sponge Bob with the girls. (and rest, hydrate, and hope to feel better ASAP!)

waving white flag.

I don’t like to talk about being sick or not feeling good. To me, it seems “poor me” and whiny. Also? I don’t want anyone feeling sorry for me or anything. Because honestly. We all get viruses, flus, colds, etc… and also? I don’t pretend life is perfect here BUT I do prefer to focus my energy on more positive things. Makes things all around better.

Ah but I’ve been battling something nasty and it seems to only be getting worse. Now you should note that I have treated myself VERY well. In bed or comfy chair. LOADS of fluids. Nothing but rest. (and internet surfing and novel reading and TV watching)

and a shout out to Mr. Flaum who has been doing darn near EVERYTHING around here.

Oh but Wednesday the coughing was increasing, and Wednesday night I had to sleep upright to get any sleep, as laying down = impossible unless a non-stop cough fit was what I wanted.

(me in chair early Thursday morning, deciding it was time for Dr. visit)

So yeah. I went to the Dr. HELLO!!! I have a class this weekend!! All week I’ve been extra good to my sick self so I’d be all better for it! I’ve been SO EXCITED for this class… and in fact that has been motivation for me to STAY PUT in bed.

The Dr. visit was a LOT OF WAITING… but good news was that currently I do NOT have pneumonia or anything nefarious like that. Bad news? I’m still wicked sick and this is just the kind of bugger that COULD become something nefarious. BLIMEY. But good news? I had a breathing treatment in-office and it totally made me high (as close to ‘drug high’ as this girl gets)… and helped my breathing BIG TIME.

(me, getting high and finding humor as usual)

So home with an inhaler I came. I was able to sleep laying down!! HOORAY!! This morning, as I tried to box up some stuff for class tomorrow… and thinking maybe I could still go… Mr. Flaum stepped in. Here’s the thing about J – he’s the king of practical. He’s the first one to blow off “so what, you’re a little sick!” plus he’s a fireman with 15+ yrs experience. My point? When he says you’re REALLY SICK… you’re REALLY SICK.

So I can’t believe I had to do it (seriously – why won’t this bug leave?!) but class is re-scheduled for April 2. I got in touch with all the students and they were super cool. Also? They don’t want these germs.

I still can’t believe I let myself blog about being sick.

I’m in bed, resting, reading lots of novels, and drinking tons of fluids. I AM taking care of me.

Ok but also? this was in the Dr’s office and cracked me right up:

I did not open the drawer (eww!), and I’m darn glad that it wasn’t needed for my visit!!!
