I set myself a goal to decorate a bit more seasonally as well as using up stash items like the spool of twines you see above. I’m also trying to use up paper I have vs buying more. I share this because as I sat and thought about how to add all these things could come together the answer hit me: ScanNCut craft time! Continue reading “Fall leaf garland with ScanNCut”

Sweet Autumn card featuring ScanNCut 2
Who’s ready for fall? Me!! As you know (disclaimer) I do work with Brother, and they provided me with the amazing ScanNCut2 650w machine that you’re going to see here today in action for the very first time! Of course all the ideas and opinions here are always my own. Oh but who wants to hear me talk? You want to see this baby in action…
I am so in love with the new designs, and if you’ve been hearing all the buzz about the new SNC then you want to stay tuned – TONS of videos coming! This is barely the beginning.
Just love how this card came out! Want more fall inspiration? You’ve got it! I’ve got two new project PDFs up on the ScanNCut website! If you go to the “video” section of their site you’ll also see videos for these projects and many more.
I made the so fun pillow (above) with basic shapes + some hand drawn elements turned rhinestone pattern! Not into stitching? Check it out anyhow – you can so make a pumpkin like that from paper! Also, I have a table runner that I accented with flowers, buttons, rhinestones, and more! Want to see that project tutorial? It’s on the site too! You can see all these projects plus those of my fellow SNC designers here.
Well as you can see – I’ve been a busy girl! I’ll be back to share more real soon. Looking to get a ScanNCut2 of your own? Contact a Brother dealer for the 650W model, or you can find the 350 model (affiliate link) at Amazon and other big retailers.
ScanNCut homemade words and birthday card
One of my favorite things lately is doodling and then seeing what it looks like when my ScanNCut machine cuts it out of paper. What I LOVE about this is that I can take a word that is big (or small) or other shape and re-size it to the project I need. So often I doodle something and think “it’s not the right size….” well by scanning into my ScanNCut it doesn’t matter! I can just re-size and play!
Today I’ve got a full (long!) video tutorial that will show you how to do that – and how I made this card.
My key tips are:
- use pencil first (contrasted with the pen, the machine won’t pick it up!
- don’t expect it just right on the first sketch, but at the same time don’t underestimate the “do it quick don’t think too much” approach
- thin pen first, then thicken with more pen strokes or a thicker pen so that it cuts around your shape
- Scan words separately if you want to be able to manipulate them as separate words
- Don’t forget to unify the pattern so that you move all the pieces together/everything will re-size properly
Most of all though, have fun! Card making is my favorite for birthdays and thank yous. Something about celebrating a special person combined with crafting that just puts me in a great mood!
I love how fun this turned out – and really it’s a party it could be for a man or woman, kid or adult. If you have any questions or requests with the ScanNCut be sure to email me or leave me a comment – I’ve got so much to share with you and have so many fun things still to come!

ScanNCut countdown: almost there!
Today I want to share a peek at some party projects I made with the ScanNCut machine.
The banner above? 100% made with cuts from the machine. SO much fun!
This gift box? Maybe my favorite project. And of course we need an invitation…
I think cutting glitter paper is my favorite thing this machine does with such ease. Normal paper punches can’t get through the stuff, and making my own letters with that thick beautiful paper? heavenly!
Brother (TM) International is introducing the first home and hobby cutting machine with a built-in scanner, and it is going to be revealed SOON! This machine has so much possibility and creative potential – we can’t wait to share more about it.
Want to be the first to know more? You can sign up for info at www.scanncut.com. It’s been really exciting to be working with Brother International on this launch, and I can’t wait to show you full tutorials and share more details!

ScanNCut countdown!
Brother(tm) International is introducing the first home and hobby cutting machine with a built-in scanner, and it is going to be revealed in just a few short weeks. Want to be the first to know more? You can sign up for info at www.scanncut.com. It’s been really exciting to be working with Brother International on this launch, creating projects to share with you and even making some videos that will be on their website in the future. The secret trip to Colorado in June? Yup, it was to work on videos for this new machine!
The picture above? That’d be Miss Rebecca’s birthday party and I used “the secret machine” (as she’s been calling it!) to add a lot of detail and fun to the party in a very short amount of time. I’ll be sharing more about this party (and how the ScanNCut helped me in a time crunch!) soon.
