Crop girl

One of my best friends for sure- and somebody I rarely go a day without talking to. Stephenie Hamen, who is not only fiskateer #3, but also superhero of cropping known as crop girl. She just launched a brand new blog- and I can already see how awesome it’s going to be. Can’t wait to hear her advice, see her suggestions, and see where she takes it.

rock on crop girl, rock on.

Check it out at www.cropgirl.wordpress.com. She’s giving away a copy of my book (Paper + Pixels), and has tons of fun stuff in store…

My dear friend Stephenie was tagged by  Stephanie who was tagged by Stacy Julian and decided to tag me.

Here are the rules…

Link to your tagger and post these 3 rules on your blog.

  • Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
  • Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
  • Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

My 7 facts:

  1. I have an extra vertebrae (and no, I don’t have a tail!)
  2. I have never, will never see the following movies: titanic, matrix, shawshank redemption, and I reserve the right to add to the list. Don’t ask why- I don’t even really know!
  3. When I have to face tasks that I really don’t want to do (like refuse dessert, work out harder, or some chores) often I pretend I’m a heroine in a book or movie and I’m just ‘acting the part’.
  4. I love to plan and organize. My brain feeds on planning!
  5. I don’t eat my 5 servings of veggies/fruit a day.
  6. I once had a really super spooky- almost supernatural experience.
  7. I haven’t scrapbooked something that wasn’t an assignment in 4 months.

Ok, now to tag people… my brain is fried so I’m just going to say that if you are reading this consider yourself tagged! It’s good to think on and do! And if you do it be sure to tell me. I’d love to read!

good (girl) things…

Have you ever been in the toy section and thought “I wish I had that as a kid! I want to play with that!”

This is something that happens to me on a fairly regular basis. I don’t think I’ll ever really ‘grow up’. I think I’ll always enjoy creative and imaginative play. I hope I always do. Well Elizabeth and I have been eyeing a certain teapot palace on-line for a long time now… but we’ve never found it in-stock anywhere. Then, just weeks before her birthday I found it at my Target. SCORE! One benefit of being an adult is that you can decide what goes in the cart (wink). So I hid it. saved it. and yesterday at her birthday party she got to open it.

She was way excited too. I see lots of fun, ponies, and tea in our future. Speaking of cute little girls…

love the crown Rebecca. LOVE it. I also like the serious expression. So un-like her (she’s always giggling) that it cracks me up. And here is a (blurry) fabulous Mariposa fairy… I mean Miss E. She loved this gift from a friend, and had a truly sparkle-filled lovely 3rd birthday.

Now I have to go back to reality and clean, organize, work (some fun stuff there!), oh, and deal with some less than pleasant life stuff. But for one day- it was really nice to set aside everything and just celebrate my big girl. The photos will be treasured forever!

P+P update-

Hey all! Just wanted to share that the paper + pixels blog is up and will get 4 or so updates a week with projects, challenges, ideas, etc.

http://paperandpixels.vox.com/

We created a LOT of artwork for this book- and some of those pages didn’t make it into the final copy. WE had SOOO many ideas we had to cut some! So you’ll be seeing a lot of those pages (and some new ones) over at the book blog. Here’s the first one I’ve posted (more info on it at book blog)

I have a few copies of Paper + Pixels that I’ll be adding to my Etsy shop today (Saturday). (link on right)

Have a great weekend!

secret life of may

I’m neck deep in secrets. GOOD stuff. Some of which will be revealed on 3.1 SO, other than all-consuming secrets in my ‘bat cave’ what is up here at casa de flaum?

bex.jpg Daddy said to Rebecca “Ok, so you’re barely 6 months old and you’re crawling and rolling over and all… but you’re not standing. Not walking. You want me to be impressed? stand up!” Now you have to understand that he was TOTALLY kidding.

48hrs later though, I found her standing in her crib. And she’s pulling herself up onto legs and furnature all day long now. Such a nut.

Elizabeth is OBSESSED with her birthday (next week) and doesn’t let anyone forget that it’s coming. Where’s my cake? When is my party? Where are my balloons? To tide her over I got her the cutest cupcake at our grocery store. Oh- and note her shirt. I found a shirt that says “bon bons” though I still have NOT found any for me to eat (being that I’m a stay at home mom and that’s what I’m supposedly eating all day)

Sanded sugar is good. Icing is good too. But I’ll resist. Ok, just one small bite. I didn’t run for 30min today just so I could eat this! I ran to try and rid myself of all this baby weight… or at least a few hundred calories worth…

Sweet dreams…
