Birthday layout featuring Maggie Holmes Confetti line

The next week… no the next MONTH is going to be so wild! I’m hanging on and enjoying the mix of work, family trips, and end of the school year events. Today I’ve got a layout to share with you – one featuring Maggie Holmes (Crate Paper) Confetti line + the ScanNCut (my homemade banners)

Once in a while, it really is fun to just PLAY! This is a layout I made celebrating a special birthday – and most of the product featured is the new Maggie Holmes Confetti line. LOVE how her line is great for a birthday – or not.

I also had a lot of fun using a lot of my current signature moves – from kraft background to sequins to Heidi Swapp mist splatters.

I’m currently debating a strictly embellishments class (in my free time – haha!) and I’m excited about all of the projects + fun coming your way this summer. My way too – as we have a lot of fun in store.

Wonder Woman [a girlie Halloween scrapbook layout]

008

I love collaborating with crafty friends, and today Ashli Oliver and I are both doing some “girlie scrapbooking”. As moms of girls I thought it would be fun to just really focus on all that girlie goodness as inspiration and see where it takes us. Check out her post here.

I went a bit amazon (as in, Wonder Woman!) with my page…

Today I’ve got a peek at one of the layouts already featured in my vacation scrapbooking class – you can still sign up at early bird price – and a look at the process of making a mixed media background.

This was a lot of fun, and I love the process of making something cool without putting the photos at risk of being splattered and messed up.

Have a very happy + crafty weekend!

Freaky (it’s been so long!) layout this Friday!

072

True story: Friday the 13th inspired this layout. You see, I have been working with a (gasp) schedule here on my blog. This is GASP worthy because I’ve always thought a pre-planned blog sounded absolutely the worst. What I’ve discovered is, jotting down notes and making a few plans in advance can help me so much! Brainstorming ideas, planning things out – I’m calling it my “blog assistant” and it has been good.

Take for example, realizing that it’s been over 3 months since I created a scrapbook layout. It’s Friday the 13th. Last week we celebrated 13 years of marriage and had a great (scrapbook worthy) dinner out…

creative bells ring! It’s blog + layout inspiration match in heaven!! Thanks, blog assistant!

This layout is a simple one because I had some issues deciding “what do I even use…” plus 4 photos on 1 page = less space or even need to embellish much.

I love how this turned out – and whether you like ’em spooky or you just ignore the Friday the 13th stuff I hope you’ve enjoyed this layout! Want to see the basic thought process on how I start a layout like this? I’ve got a video for that!

First day of school

012

and so, another school year begins. I wish I could say this layout is already in the 2014 album, but I’m not quite to that level of organization. Things have been wild here (when are they not?) but pretty darn positive. The girls are both very happy with their assigned teachers, my studio space is getting to a place where I can almost call it clean, and lots of excitement for the fall as well as new projects is high as well.

I created this layout with the new Simon Says Stamp card kit – as you can see it works beautifully on a project other than a card. Love that! This page was simple and doesn’t have a lot going on – I like that too. Sometimes I just want a photo + a story in a format that fits into an otherwise hectic schedule.
