One hand: card making

A friend of mine broke her hand – and it made me reflect on not just how glad I am that my own wrist injury is (pretty much) healed and that I am back to normal (minus a lot of exercises I used to do but can’t now). I’m still rebuilding and strengthening – and will be for years to be honest. But it reminded me how panicked I got at idea of not being able to craft.

Dog Days of Summer: Donut Puppy stamped card

Welcome to the dog days of summer! This week on my blog I’ll be sharing ideas for the dogs. To kick things off, I’m playing with a new stamp – a puppy in a donut! What could be cuter for a Monday? This is a Sweet Stamp Shop stamp – part of a new release I just couldn’t resist. Calorie free donuts? Yes please! Continue reading “Dog Days of Summer: Donut Puppy stamped card”

stamping: monkey around with Lawn Fawn

Today I’m just monkeying around with my stamping – won’t you join me?

Sometimes it really is just fun to monkey around – and for this project I used a new Ellen Hutson exclusive set. I love the idea behind “united we flourish” and small businesses coming together- and Lawn Fawn and Ellen are two of the best I know (affiliate links used). You can find out more and check out this set on the website here.

I filmed a YouTube video to share the process of stamping + creating this fun gift tag.

My favorite is the background. The colors didn’t turn out as I expected – but I love them all the same.

Using stencils as I did here is always fun – I love ink blending! The aqua hues didn’t turn out as I expected – however in person as I look at this project I can see the subtle blue tones. That’s why I like to create without rules – you never know what you’ll come up with or like! This stencil I used (I believe) is an old Hero Arts one – but no worries if you want a similar one. There are sooo many stencil companies out there now you can easily find some!

Color medium wise I used clean color pens to work on my stamped images. So far none of mine have run out and I’m pleased overall with how they work for the coloring I do. That said – any color medium you like can work here!

Thanks bunches for tuning in – I’m going to gift my monkey stamp set + dies, as well as a few other surprises to one of you! Just leave a comment on this post and the winner will be announced in the final Camp Scrap 2017 roundup post next week. Good luck – and happy stamping!

Watercolor Princess card featuring Sweet Stamp Shop

I love working with stamps to create cards – but sometimes a little planning really goes a long way! Today I’m playing with a stamp set that is just so simple & lovely… can I plan an equally simple & lovely card?

I am loving this dream princess set from Sweet Stamp Shop. Reminds me of Mulan which got me thinking about how to best create a card. In my video I talk you through the process – including my “hidden” stamping to help me keep track of my color use. Here is my YouTube tutorial– I hope you enjoy!

In the beginning of the video I mention that I struggle with “less”. I get to playing and man I just want to keep going! There are a number of ways to control – including coloring on wet paper as you saw me do in the video. Other ideas?  Continue reading “Watercolor Princess card featuring Sweet Stamp Shop”

stamping: one stamp many ways

It’s so easy to forget: we can do things more than one way! Today I’m working with Pink Ink stamps (and wow they’ve got a lovely give-away!) and I am sharing several ways you can use the same stamp. I’m linking up to Ellen Hutson.com for supplies today – and affiliate links are used. Thank you in advance should you use the link as they support this blog and cost you nothing extra.

I’m featuring the Pink Ink stamp “Pretty Petals” – it’s a new favorite for sure!

Way #1 is the obvious: stamp it onto paper and color as seen here. Continue reading “stamping: one stamp many ways”
