A new week, a new challenge! This week at Simon Says Stamp & Show we are all sharing our favorite techniques. This was a no brainer for me – I had to share the idea I discovered earlier this summer! I learned about stamping with archival then blending distress inks over (and how the archival will show through – cool!) from Tim Holtz. The part I discovered, was that you can then spritz with dylusions spray and watch as those droplets of color take over! It was an accidental squirt of mist that caused this happy discovery- I suppose I cuold argue that this is why being messy is a good thing. *wink*
The only catch here is that this works on Ranger’s gloss paper, and on any other paper I can’t make promises. It doesn’t work on photo paper that I have – if you have some random gloss paper give it a go and try! If it works, please be sure and let me know.
Here’s a list of the supplies I used:
1. Stamp with archival ink(s) on Ranger gloss paper
2. blend distress inks over it
3. Mist with dylusions
4. Use background as base of your project!
It is so easy – gotta love that!
Here’s my finished card – I just love how this looks and how much possibility is here. I’ll definitely be doing fall and winter holiday projects with this technique.
Want to actually see my how-to? Here is a video I made a while back (same technique, different project):
I do love a good creative accident!

Remember you can make ANYTHING crafty that you’d like to join in the challenge! The only real rule is just that you in some way be inspired by the challenge – everyone is welcome. To be entered [Simon Says Stamp is giving away a $50 voucher- randomly drawn!] you just need to participate + link up! You can get all the details at the blog here.
Fabulous background! I love working with glossy paper and you can get some really cool results. And there are a bunch of brand new dylusions inks standing right here on my desk… TFS!
Love the misted additions to the gorgeous colors on the background. Beautiful card!
Very cool effect with the Dylusions mists. I’ll have to try that! It certainly made a beautiful background on your card. <3 Candy
What a great discovery of the Dylusions Spray! Love the alcohol resist technique as well! Stunning colorful tag! Hugs, Sandra
terrific background, and I’ll give it a try on my KromeKote glossy cardstock and let you know how it works.
I have a whole ream of it…
then I’ll try to decide which technique is my favorite for the SSS challenge, so many techniques, so little time!
Love the added spray to your background, adds yet another layer of interest. Love your colour palette and the heart is lovely. Tracy x
Learned a lot from watching this video, thanks for sharing and the tag is gorgeous!!
Thx so much for the lovely comment.. just to answere you question (forgot to put it correct down, only my favourites)the thing I do in almost every thing I make is to use Distress ink on the edges (images, around the card and almost everything I put on in), like I did with everything.. If you look at the post after this you see how I made my card from start to finish.. 🙂 It is in norwegian (sins I did it for a norwegian store) http://lindasshobby.blogspot.no/2012/08/hvordan-et-kort-blir-til.html
