I love coloring a stamped image with watercolor. Here I used just one color and faded it out then stitched the butterfly onto this card.
The other notable technique – a favorite – is the background. I stamped the butterflies in pistachio ink, then stamped my sentiment with embossing ink. I then covered the sentiment with black embossing powder and shook off the excess. When I did this? In a few spots where the ink was wet on the butterflies it stuck. I just LOVE the contrast and detail this adds having those bits of black embossing powder here and there.
I’m really happy with this card – and it is the perfect entry for me this week as our challenge is “Thank you” or in my case – thankful. Hope you have a lovely and creative week!

Sweet card! Love the pretty butterflies floating in the background with the splatters.
Beautiful card. I love your work, and you always inspire me. I loved your canvas made with Gelatos on the Simon Says Stamp blog this am. That’s so beautiful, May. Michelle t
Great card, love the stitching and e Finn butterfly!
May, What a COOL card !!! I LOVE It. I LOVE how you stamped the pistachio inked Butterflies in the background, so awesome looking. I finally got brave and tried my Prima water color pencils Friday it was so stressful but FUN, It’s something I will need a lot of practice on and probably some videos it’s hard to teach yourself. Hope you had a fun camping holiday weekend.
Beautiful card May

Such a lovely card! The stamping is awesome! 🙂
What an elegant card! I always love what you do with your cards’ borders and this is no exception. I also really like the powerful imagery you created with the repeated butterflies.
I like that technique of hit and miss embossing, it really looks good and I will have to try this. thanks for the tip!
This is gorgeous May ~ I love the bold stamping against the soft background of butterflies and adore your stitching around the edge which frames the card perfectly!
Lovely color combination (I can only image what the shimmer of the gold adds to your card) and so wonderful that you let the embossing powder go where it may! Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring!
stunning card may! The repeat stamping in the background is wonderful.
