A stamp, a lunch, and now a plane ride…

A lunch at Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco is my favorite. Period. It is the restaurant I measure all others against because it is always so good and I adore the restaurant setting as well. Last week I got to enjoy the second (hopefully annual!) meal with one of my favorite people Julie Fei-Fan Balzer!

We spilt the donuts and also the smores dessert – ahhh yes! Also, of course we had you know actual lunch first too. Spending time with a favorite creative person + eating a wonderful meal = the perfect way to get some me time. What could be even better? When this person gifts me something beyond anything I could imagine!

This is a hand carved stamp… of me! This stamp? It is one I will cherish always. I adore her hand cut stamps- and this one was just so exciting to get. You’ll see it in use in my art journal class coming later this month.

Right now though, it’s time to jump on a plane and head to Anaheim! I’ll get to see Julie, her new products, and so much more! If you want to keep up with my adventures as they happen check in at my instagram account. When I return Monday I’ll begin blogging picks, favorites, and more from the show!

  1. Wow, what a precious gift. Amazing stamp, May. That’s awesome. Have a great time at CHA. Michelle t

  2. We all benefit when our favorite crafty people get revitalized! Looking forward to what you have planned for 2015 and how you will be energized by CHA.
If you happen to see Rebekah Meier’s booth FE #2013 I would love to see pictures and a report on her new Fabric Elements. They look as beautiful as her stencils.

  3. Wow! That is definitely cool! I love her hand carved stamps and how she’s able to do everything backwards! I used to do these in college and would love to some day pick them up again, but the fact that she does words is amazing to me! And having lunch with her! Definitely cool!

  4. What an amazing lunch that must have been, and I would have loved to have been the bread crumb, or fly, or whatever listening in on the creative goodness happening between two of my favorite creative people. Truly a gift to be treasured is the hand carved stamp Julie gave you. True treasure.

Have fun at CHA and I look forward ;to how you use your new gift.

  5. What an amazing gift from an amazing artist! Had a chance to take her classes in San Jose that weekend and she mentioned her lunch with you too.
