Rock the techniques

005

This week, our challenge focus is on techniques and I’ve used three on this tag.

#1: After I finished using the stencil on last week’s tag, I rubbed the stencil on this tag. That’s where the dots and white paint comes from!

#2: Coloring a stamp with distress ink, squirting with water, and then stamping for a watercolor effect.

#3: I used watercolors, then added water to blend and soften on my stamped bird image.

From there we’ve got some stitching, tape, and words of course. I’m really loving this tag…

I love the depth and details in this tag – such a fun piece to make!

  1. Beautiful tag. I love the sentiment and everything about it. The background is lovely. All that awesome texture and beautiful bird, just lovely. Michelle t

  2. Love all the visual texture in the background, and the bright colors of the bird! I agree–not bad for a “clean off the stencil” background on a tag. 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing this!

  3. Love the coffee cup die! Great idea to use it as a tag. Also love the technique used on the tag. I will be trying that tonight!

  4. This is one of my favorites! I adore all of the patterns you combined so expertly. The colors are so vibrant and I thought it was absolutely brilliant to sew over the tissue tape! I will have to borrow that technique for sure. Love the birdie and the whole tag made me smile…and give you props for some serious skills!

  5. There is just so much to look at on this beautiful tag and your background is stunning! Gorgeous work, as always May! 🙂
