Oh happy Monday indeed! Today Ranger begins shipping three new sets of their Distress Ink mini ink pads!
Which set is my favorite? How did I create the backgrounds you see above? Here’s a video:
I thought I would use the ‘patchwork’ tag base… I got to playing with layering color (via stencil) and such..
Then I changed my mind as I got stuck and wasn’t sure where to go next! So I set this aside and picked up a tag I’d started with set #9. I stenciled on a bit more stormy sky, added some stickers…
Then stitching. Because stitching in black always adds in more contrast and detail and texture. Oh, also? I love that when you’re stenciling and coloring you can TOTALLY layer on colors. THE SAME COLORS. And you’ll still see all the layers. How cool is that?
So all that color on and the stickers secured and it was time to play with trinkets and treasures.
Oh, and dye some ribbon with that lovely stormy sky ink for the top!
Just a bit of tarnished brass paint for effect- you know I love my metallics!
Then some word stickers (because they make everything better)
And we’re just about done!
I just love all the details and fun technique I was able to get with these mini ink pads. I hope you’ve enjoyed both my video and the project tutorial here on my blog.
All the lovely inks I used are available now in full-size form at your favorite craft stores. The new minis are shipping now – so watch for them! Simon Says Stamp has all three sets (together or individually) available to order now.
I’ve got a give-away, as promised!
I have the three sets (#7-9) here ready to mail to one of you! For your chance to win, just leave a comment here before June 28th.
Thanks to Tim Holtz and my friends at Ranger for sharing these inks with one of my lovely readers!
Want even more? Well I’ve got it!! My newest on-line class Camp Scrap begins June 30th (registration + info here) and I’m giving away a spot in that class (or the class of your choice from my site) in addition to the inks!
What could be better? I’m going to give away a few extra spots too! Can’t help myself. I love sharing with you lovely readers! I will also note to you that if you’d like to get 20% off the class of your choice between now and June 30th just use one of the links here in my post and you’ll get it automatically! Oh yes – and of course if you win a spot I will refund your fee of course.
I think that about covers it for today! Thanks again to Tim and Ranger for asking me to create and play to celebrate this new release, and to you for reading! I hope you enjoyed seeing my creative process as much as I enjoyed making this tag to share with you.
Now I’m off to get inky and test out new ideas for these wonderful little ink pads!
