How does it all get done?

The short answer is: it doesn’t!! But I suppose it is more complicated than that. let me explain.

099

This week at the Monday challenge blog the theme is “mystery” and so I thought I’d share a little insight into my holiday prep and the ‘mystery’ of how I get so much done around here!

  • I start EARLY
  • I take advantage of small bits of time
  • I enlist my girls as helpers
  • I do something (however small) each day
  • I pick my projects – nobody can do everything!

With this in mind – here’s a peek into my studio today! I created a fun little tag and wrapped up a gift.

082

I stamped all over a tag with Kelly Purkey’s new Elf movie inspired sets. Then I used embossing paste + a snowflake stencil to add some texture.

085

Lift off the stencil, and let it dry!

089

Then (it was only partially dry when I sprayed mine) spray with dylusions and perfect pearls mist.

094

It only took a minute (plus a while to dry) and I was ready to get a package together!

096

A little tinsel, some flower & holly action, and BAM! one gift ready to go.

I just love how this one turned out – and yeah I misted the whole thing with a bit more of that pearly mist.

That’s the secret – that there is, in fact, no secret I just wrap up gifts as I buy them.

  1. I have been most remiss in commenting and classes while I clean house like a crazy person.Alaska son coming home for the first time in 18 mos. with new girlfriend! But I love this technique and still gushing over the stencil class. Now when I look at stencils-I have a whole new perspective. Thank you!

  2. That is a great tip May! Well actually tips. I always tell myself I’m going to get started early and wellllll, then it’s November before I know it. Cute tag! Thanks.

  3. I really should wrap gifts as I buy them too, I am very organised and purchase everything well in advance but then I am exhausted and cannot face the wrapping lol. Maybe this year I will wrap a few each day! Love you cute adorable little tag. Tracy x x

  4. May, I actually HAVE wondered how you do it all! Even though you explained it, I still think it’s a mystery! 🙂

This is a gorgeous tag! I love the use of paste. Very cleverly done! And the results are beautiful!

This has been such a FUN challenge. And entertaining too! I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s write-ups. Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. Great tips for the holidays! love that stenciled effect on your tag and what a beautiful present!

  6. Yes, time management is a MUST in all aspects of life! Oh and now I need to add embossing paste to my list of must haves! lol You have created one FAB Tag! Now my question is, do you make them save them? I do! 🙂

  7. Love the tag! love snowflakes. The embossing past dries clear ? or transparent kind of? We love Elf – just watched it this weekend !

  8. Such an amazing project! I loved how you used the paste and stencil. I can’t ever seem to get my paste to cooperate, but you nailed it! I really adore how it turned out. I also greatly appreciated the tips on getting things done. Wish we could tack a few extra hours onto each day, but if I incorporate your tips, that will be a huge help! Thank you for the inspiration and the stellar advice.

  9. Oh, I so want to win! We’ve recently moved and I am in the process of setting up my “studio.” What timing! Studio should be set up about the time my winnings arrive! Have a great Thanksgiving, May.
