Challenge: What I’m known for

s2

What are you known for, what are your signature touches when you craft? I think it’s a GREAT question (I did make a challenge of it this week over at Simon Says Stamp & Show!) and something that any creative person should know. This isn’t to say that you can’t change your ways, add, remove, or otherwise grow as a crafter. Not at all! But, knowing your own creative style and favorites can be very helpful because it can allow you to shop better (you’ll know what you actually use!), plus I find it interesting to be aware of my habits. Here are some of my current “known for” details as a crafter:

  • cardstock base for most projects
  • love to stamp as an accent
  • stitching (machine)
  • buttons, doilies, alphabet stickers are top 3 embellishments used
  • handwritten journaling
  • distress ink maniac (srsly. I can’t get enough!)
  • pen work around my titles
  • use 4×6 photos in my scrapbooking

All of these (except the distress ink) made it onto my page this week for the Simon challenge:

and speaking of a challenge, I used my February Simon Says Stamp card kit (which is SO beautiful!) and just added in letter stickers, washi, and a 12×12 sheet of grey cardstock to make this page. I *LOVE* using my card kit for layouts!! My trick is to utilize the 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock (as I did here with pink), and also to use letter stickers (I have TONS! there’s another thing I’m known for!) which is great – it uses my stash while letting me play with something new.

I had an absolute blast working on this challenge – and we have a new team member too! Which is extra exciting because it just so happens that i got to meet her last week at CHA! Be sure to welcome Anita (aka the Artful Maven) – she’s amazing and we’re so excited to have her on the team.
I encourage you to head over to visit Simon Says Stamp & Show to see all of the other creations and to enter. This week’s prize (as always) is a $50 voucher to Simon Says Stamp! The winner is randomly drawn – you can enter by posting to your blog, flickr, or other site too. See the blog for entry details and rules, and feel free to leave a comment here (just for fun) and tell me what YOU are known for as a crafter! 🙂

  1. So excited that Anita has joined the team. I adore her work!!! This page is lovely. I really like the way you embellished the letters. Makes them pop!

  2. A really fabulous LO. The grey and pink give it a really nice girly but modern feel… A fab colour combo. The little lacy touch at the top looks perfect and the photos are so lovely. Love the close-up! Sarah. X.

  3. Very pretty layout, May. You’ve done a lot of nice techniques on this…the machine stitching, the use of the “stitched” letters, pink cardstock background, etc. Very nice way to scrap your adorable pictures. <3 Candy

  4. Lovely layout May, such pretty colours. I love that half cut doily/paper added to the top of the page with the stamped and wooden hearts added, a lovely touch. I always love to see machine stitching and I love how you have used the letters and card stock. Fabulous photo too. Tracy x x

  5. Such a fantastic challenge question – it’s going to be quite a testing one!! Love your layout – fab lettering, and wonderful how you’ve echoed the trio of rosettes in those adorable dresses with the trio of buttons – delicious. And whoop, whoop for Anita joining the team – she’s completely amazing!!
