challenge: Studio 490

New week… new challenge!! Head over immediately (if you’ve not done so already) and visit Simon Says Stamp & Show – we’re inspired by THE ALWAYS FABULOUS WENDY VECCHI! To start my post here today, I thought I’d share a few of my personal favorite Wendy products! Aside from being a creative maven and Ranger Senior Educator, Wendy designs stamps and her famous art parts and all kinds of treasures. Here are my faves:

So much fun stuff! I used my fave cancelled postage stamp and pocket watch to create my first holiday package topper of the year…

Supplies used:

My trick in making these is to design the background (in this case embossed with clear ‘cancelled postage’ stamp that is then coated with green distress stain) some fairly flat design, then I go ahead and glue the top piece to it and let it dry.

Once that happens – it’s play time! Sometimes I tape the outer edges together with foil tape, other times (like this) I just coat with paint or glitter. Then you’re free to play! Little bits, dimensional accents – you could make one of these lovelies for any reason, occasion, or person. I think putting a tiny photo can be fun, or using ephemera. Me? I used alcohol inks + glaze to colorize my metal accents, and I cut out words from patterned paper.

Wendy is such an inspiration – I hope you’ll JOIN US! The rules + post can be found over at the Stamp & Show blog. You want to enter because it is fun, plus Simon Says Stamp gives away (randomly) a $50 voucher each week to one lucky entrant!!! You can get all the details at the blog here.
