Peach Sangria

We’ve got peaches… they’re on the tree and they’re RIPE! I wanted to use up a couple overly ripe ones today, and in something other than dessert so I did a search for cocktail recipes.

I’d estimate I drink ONE glass of wine a year. It’s not that I don’t like it… it’s just that I don’t drink it. No real interest I guess. Most wine in our possession is either for a specific dinner recipe, or was a gift. Thinking I could double up and use up some peaches AND a bottle of wine in the back of the pantry I went forward with attempts at a peach sangria.

I saw a number of recipes on-line and I kind of mixed & matched ideas for what I had on hand. Here’s what I did:

I put two peaches in blender and puree along with approximately 3tbsp sugar + 3tbsp HOT water
pour bottle of wine (I used white zin) + puree into pitcher then I added:
about ½ cup peach schnapps
2 more peaches chopped up and dumped in
1 orange in segments (and squeezed a bit as I dropped them in)
8 strawberries quartered
other options I’ve seen (but did NOT do) include adding triple sec liquor, pineapple juice, orange juice, apple slices, other berries.

Chill in fridge and enjoy with or without ice.

Me? I *LOVE* it! so tasty, and sitting here with it so hot outside it’s really refreshing. Just don’t over-indulge!!!

  1. I love, love peaches, but I have to rely on what shows up at the grocery store or an open market. This drink looks super refreshing. With a heat index over 100 today and tomorrow a refreshing fruit drink with or without alcohol would be perfect. Have you ever grilled peach halves? Yummy.
I do get to pick fresh raspberries from our yard, so delicious.

  2. Yum, I”m not a wine drinker at all but that looks good to me! And you are so lucky to have a peach tree!
