What did I make? I went super inky + some new stamp goodness for a card.

095

How-to:

1. On thick cardstock set doily stencil and ink with various colors. Then coat with glossy gel medium and let dry.

2. Die cut cardstock heart, stamp with star and word stamps. Then ink the whole heart and edge with brown ink. Set aside.

3. Paint metal word accent, let dry. Then scratch away (use sanding paper) the paint leaving paint only in the letters indentations.

4. Once dry, take that cardstock that was stenciled and rub lightly with distress ink. Wipe away any excess.

5. Assemble card by placing the stenciled paper (with torn edges) onto cardstock. Then add washi tape, heart, metal accent, and stitch ribbon into place as a finishing touch.

CHA Winter 2014: Tim Holtz for Sizzix

2014tim (91) copy

This is my first (of two or three…) “Tim” posts. I have to break it down because I had 472 photos from the show to sort. Yeah, you read it right! Between the fantastic products, samples, and beautiful displays it was hard to leave this rich and detailed area.

Do you like to shop ahead? Simon Says Stamp has all these lovely products (as well as more from Tim!) available for pre-order in the shop!

Consider yourself enabled.

Now, let’s get started!

Challenge: Anything Goes!

I may be off at CHA running around and finding the latest and greatest, but I’ve also got to pause and join in the current challenge!

For this card I stenciled  the Chevron with festive berries distress ink, and then I used glossy gel medium and gold paint with the Numbered stencil for some texture. Mounted onto some patterned paper, added some stickers, and we’re set!

Note: the Chevron and Numbered stencils, as well as all of Tim’s new stencils are available for pre-order now!

I’ll be back with more CHA coverage (booths, favorites, and more!) so be sure to stay tuned. In the meantime – why not join the challenge?

New CHA project: Tim Holtz stamps and stencils

269

So it is that time of year – the CHA tradeshow in Anaheim. This is the annual show where manufacturers, store owners, buyers, designers, and other industry professionals gather to share what is new, learn, and more!

This year I will be attending and reporting in here at my blog ALL the latest, greatest, favorite products, and more! I’m excited to meet up with friends, find new creative inspiration, and check out all that is in store. It is going to be an intense and exhausting week! I’ll be filming the Paper Clipping Round Table podcast, attending loads of meetings, and of course snapping THOUSANDS of photos!

Right this minute though, as I walk the floor and get started I have a card to share with you.

264

This card features new Tim Holtz stamps and stencils (available for pre-order now at Simon Says Stamp!) It is definitely one of my favorites – this is a card I made for Tim & Stamper’s Anonymous and I love how it came out. That bit of green in the yellow around the bottle label? Still not sure how I managed that but I love it!

273

I’ve been playing a lot with gears, metals, and mixing my mediums too. For now I’d better get back to my CHA gathering of information and snapping of photos! If you have any requests or things you’d like to see covered please do leave a comment. I definitely take requests and I’ll be at the show all week!

Best of 2013: Simon Says Stamp + stamp out the year challenge

First off, I want to take a quick minute and name Simon Says Stamp as one of my “best of 2013” craft companies. Not only do they have fantastic customer service and an unmatched product selection, but they also now have monthly kits and exclusive products from amazing designers too! It has been my honor working with them for the past 18 months – and I hope to work with them for many years to come!

I took a two week break from the challenges due to health issues – but you know I had to pop back in and “stamp out” 2013 with the Monday Challenge blog team!!

This card was super fun to make! Stamping, coloring, and of course stickles for glittering! I used two favorite stamps as well as two favorite stamp techniques: embossing with white powder and stamping + coloring with distress markers.
