I scream for…

DSC_2598

“I scream for…” is our challenge. Well obviously I thought of eyeballs. Then I thought of ink. Then I thought about how much I am loving playing with watercolor pencils + water. Then about the new wood veneer faux embroidery hoops I’ve got…

Then I thought… what if I do all of that, see if it comes together? Here’s the result!

I glued the paper to the hoop first, then worked around it. I think next time I would not glue it until after done embellishing – but still a lot of fun and really like this little project!

Anything goes!

I wanted to try and see what happened if I used cardstock that I cut this bird out from as a stencil… I like it! But what to do with it? With a scrap of doily and a few embellishments I had myself a card! So very simple – but a lot of fun. I will definitely be trying to use more of my bits of paper left over from die cutting as stencils!

coffee or tea?

When I decided to make this week’s challenge “coffee or tea” I knew I’d be using this Tim Holtz teacup die. I love how this card turned out – it will be holding a gift card inside for a very special person!

I used distress inks to stamp with, then gently painted with water to do a very controlled watercolor look – loving the results! lots of other stamping including pearl flourish on the cup (dabber paint), my cool new Simon Says Stamp letters, and more! This teacup has been featured on my projects quite a few times – love it!

I took our challenge this week and used “coffee or tea” as my sentiment. I really like how this one turned out too.

Yeah, you can squirt mist. But I like to stamp with it, spray it on a mat and use a brayer, and flick it directly out of the bottle!

So this week I made a card using a brayer (pink and green), I stamped with it (blue dots), and flicked it too (gold). The blue dot stamp (sadly) is a retired Hero Arts stamp. I’ve loved it for so long!

Simple but super fun!

This was a fun tag – I covered a manila tag in (stitched) fabric bits, then embellished with gold die cuts, droplets of gold, and more.

My take on the challenge was to go for the gold stuff – sparkly, gems, and gold stuff always makes me think of regal things. I always love gathering little bits and pieces and making tags like this. It was a lot of fun – and I know the special friend who gets it will enjoy and hopefully it’ll make her feel like a princess!
