ScanNCut card: Love those cut-outs!

Disclosure: I am a paid consultant for Brother International Corporation and have received a ScanNCut from Brother to evaluate. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own and based on my use of the product.

Today I’m on my ScanNCut playing. Making shapes and experimenting with what does (and doesn’t) cut from the machine. Of course when experimenting I always try and actually make something! In this case a watercolored card is what turned up!

What I’m super into right now are projects like this that can be done with color mediums + cardstock. Something SO satisfying about starting with no pre-made embellishments or dies and just dreaming up the whole thing! I really like the layered look that I got with coloring some pieces and all the detail. Oh yes – and that “love” is just my handwriting cut on pink cardstock thanks to the ScanNCut.

Project #2: Simon Says Stamp August 2015 Card Kit

summer2

As I posted last week – I’ll be featuring a different kit each month and creating with it. This month? The August 2015 Simon Says Stamp card kit.

Don’t let that name fool you!

What is a kit? A coordinated grouping of supplies.

There aren’t rules about “you must make —- with the supplies”. No way! Here’s a layout I made with the supplies from this kit.

I added in the sequins and the 12″ background cardstock, but I believe pretty much everything else is the kit! These adventures are detailed in my camping albums but these photos didn’t make the cut and I like having a page (or two) in the yearly album that share highlights too.

If you would like to see my video process for this page, be sure you’re signed up for my FREE 2015 class! I’m going to be closing down the registration page for this class very soon so it’s last call…

Ranger Watermark Ink technique

I was avoiding real work. Had a scrap of watercolor paper. Wanted to see what a watermark ink pad would do…

Well apparently this is a real technique (aka, I didn’t invent it!) but I haven’t seen it done on watercolor paper! I shared this in depth in Camp Scrap, but today I’ve got a specific example to share as well!

The stamp set used is one of the new exclusives from Simon Says Stamp – loving those nature stamps! Here’s my video (for this card) explaining more:

I scream for…

DSC_2598

“I scream for…” is our challenge. Well obviously I thought of eyeballs. Then I thought of ink. Then I thought about how much I am loving playing with watercolor pencils + water. Then about the new wood veneer faux embroidery hoops I’ve got…

Then I thought… what if I do all of that, see if it comes together? Here’s the result!

I glued the paper to the hoop first, then worked around it. I think next time I would not glue it until after done embellishing – but still a lot of fun and really like this little project!
