Supplies Used:

I did some stenciling for my background – if you’re in Camp Scrap then you can see the process more exactly as it was in our first “video chat”!

I colored my lady, dyed my doily with distress, then added a few bits and pieces!

I love the results – and I hope you do too! Love the thoughtful look on her face and next I will try to add a body onto one of these faces for a mixed media piece. It may take some practice!

Camp Scrap: Mixed Media

CAMP_home

I’m enjoying my latest live video chat today with my lovely Camp Scrap students, so I thought I would pop in and share a bit about my Mixed Media session!

This session is all about mixing and matching. Using stamping, paper crafting, household items, artist fluid mediums, and so much else onto your projects! I love how simple this is to do, and how many fun things happen when you open up to crafty fun. Each week in this course I am sharing a new project that includes a 1-page PDF file, as well as a full video lesson tutorial.

Here’s a peek of the week two project – which features one of my favorite ways to decorate or alter a frame or mirror! I’ve got some stenciling, card making, and even a new dimensional canvas to add in as well. Substitutions and alterations to the projects are easy (and I give suggestions for this too). Basically? If you want to play with inks, paints, dimensional embellishments, and more then join me in mixed media play!

This course is available as a single course as well as being a part of the full Camp Scrap experience. For more information or to register, click here.

Five things this Friday:

1. We should talk about this soon… there’s a (rescued) puppy in my house. I’ve got thoughts to share, just not quite ready to dive into that post so let’s keep this crafty!

2.  Shimelle’s collection is super cute – and hitting stores soon. Want to see it? Check it out here on the AC blog.

5. Still having a blast creating up a storm for Camp Scrap – if you’re in class our next chat is Saturday morning – be sure to pop on by!

Camp Scrap: Kit-tastic!

Sorry for all my silence here on the blog – the lovely students of Camp Scrap have been keeping me busy!! In all the best ways, of course. Today I want to take a moment to tell you a bit about one of the “sessions” within Camp Scrap: Kit-tastic.

Each week, I take a kit (mostly pre-made/purchased). This week it happens to be Citrus Twist’s July kit! Then I create with it, sharing video lessons as I walk through using the kit. Sometimes I’ll use more, sometimes I’ll add stuff in. It is all about making it work and challenging myself to do more with whatever happens to be in front of me. The projects are layout-focused… meaning that is my #1 goal: tell my stories. However I will frequently make cards (two this week, three last week!) as I adore making cards with kit pieces that don’t feel layout-y, or perhaps items I don’t foresee using on a layout soon.

This class so far has 10 projects over two weeks, two PDF files, and it will grow with each week and each new lesson. A worksheet and FAQ/getting started PDF file are included and of course access to the live chats, email, message board, and more as well.  Everything is self-paced, and you can work with one kit, just bust out your stash, or get loads of kits going! The Kit course is available as a part of Camp Scrap, or can be purchased as an individual session! To register and get more information, you can check it out here.

The sneak peeks shown here are layouts from the week #2 content, featuring the Citrus Twist July 2014 main kit! THANK YOU to Citrus Twist for sponsoring this week of Camp and sharing such a generous offer to students who wish to subscribe, too!

CT Citrus Twist is a sassy little kit club delivering inspiration to your fingertips! We make your scrapbooking easy and fun. All you need is glue, scissors and a paper trimmer. We will send a wonderful package monthly to your doorstep.

Challenge: From Scratch

Hey guys! I’ve been busy with Camp Scrap but I had to jump in for this week’s challenge and create!

004 copy

I went with a card where I colored a stamped image, then added a few festive touches and boom! Christmas in July.

009

What is from scratch? Well I’m giving my watercolor pencils another go and I started coloring with just the pencils and some water. Then, wanting to add some ‘from scratch’ to my embellishments I painted my metal pieces!

A jump start on the holidays? Not even! It might be July but somehow the holidays always sneak up on me!
