Imagine my surprise and delight when I found out that one of the moms on Miss R’s soccer team this year is also a creative “work from home” mom and blogger, but also that she had just released a book on macarons.
Yes, those Parisian delights that are my #1 dessert choice always. Of course I went right home and ordered my own copy from Amazon and have loved pouring over the amazing photography and details of this book. What I really like is that Mindy has broken it down and made it seem simple enough that even I (if I dare) feel like I might be able to make these. She’s got troubleshooting, tips, there’s even a CD that has templates and such for her more whimsical designs. It really walks you through all the steps in detail as well as offers tons of shapes and flavors too.
Oh but wait, there’s more.
I got to attend her book party in Sacramento – and what a great party it was! I have to share some of the details:
Who doesn’t love popcorn? I thought this bucket ‘o popcorn was super cute. Of course – there were macarons. And so much cute.
I can tell you that these macarons (I sampled 3 different flavors) were all INCREDIBLE. I was really impressed – with both how lovely the book launch party was but more importantly that her treats were amazingly delicious.
Oh, speaking of cute, there was also a lemonade bar.
Such a fun evening – I’m so glad I got to attend. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who is curious about these treats, who wants to be able to make their own, as a gift, and just as a fun inspiring read for decorative cookie ideas in general.

I have never tried making them. There is a Cordon Bleu school in town and i want to take a macarons workshop one day – but they always end up on a day that I am unavailable. Next one is on a Saturday when I am away for a scrapbook retreat.
