cool stencil discovery.

Tim Holtz stencils are hitting store shelves – and they are incredible! Here’s on idea on how to get the reverse of the stencil design to show up as if it was stenciled. First, use a gel medium over the entire stencil onto a thin paper (such as book paper) and allow to dry. It will look like nothing (see below – I used a torn up page for this example just FYI)

Then take distress stain(s) and cover the paper. Now you’ll see the gel medium clearly… but hang on.

Flip that paper over, and you’ll see this!

I love how the stains seep through and show, and that it adds another way to use these stencils. Everything I used hereĀ  – and all the new stencils – are available at Simon Says Stamp.

  1. Hi May, This is sooooo cool! Thank you for sharing. BTW I purchased my dslr – Nikon d3100. There is so much to learn. It is a good thing that I am not a working at a job person and can spend my days taking photos and scrapping to my hearts content.
