challenge: fairy tale

Time for another Simon Says Stamp & Show challenge!

This week at Simon Says Stamp & Show we’re challenged to do something “fairy tale” which I had a million ideas for! Disney vacation layout, anything about my princesses, or perhaps something inspired by Cinderella, Beauty & the Beast, or any other favorite tale! goodness! Visit the blog to see all of the other creations and to enter. This week’s prize (as always) is a $50 voucher to Simon Says Stamp! The winner is randomly drawn – you can enter by posting to your blog, flickr, or other site too. See the blog for entry details and rules as ususal.

I decided to find a way to use something to inspire a Valentine card, and so Cinderella lyrics won. Here’s the whole song:

A dream is a wish your heart makes

When you’re fast asleep

In dreams you lose your heartaches

Whatever you wish for, you keep

Have faith in your dreams and someday

Your rainbow will come smilling through

No matter how your heart is grieving

If you keep on believing

The dream that you wish will come true

I just love that little song – and in fact another bit of it is going to definitely show up on a canvas in my current on-line class! I’m inspired to do more with story quotes and fairy tales too.

Supplies Used:

This week I also happened to have my camera handy, so I took photos of my process along the way! It all started with embossing the letters, then just building color until I was satisfied. Such fun! Here’s the process in photos (more or less):

That ‘crumple paper’ step? Yeah… I actually almost trashed this!! Then I went no wait! I do like it. It just needed to be distressed a bit more and embellished a bit.

Happy Crafting!

  1. May, your little card is so pretty! I love that song and you’ve done such a great job of capturing the words to fit the project. Love your bright pink background with the Gelato heart in the center. I also love the polka dots in the background. Very pretty! <3 Candy

  2. Sweet design! Love the faint heart outline over your beautiful background. The words are iconic and perfect on your card!

  3. Yummy pink! Glad you didn’t trash it. Wonderful layering of colors, images and fonts.
