Fall craft project | Spooky House

I have a thing for altering those cheap wood birdhouses that craft stores LOVE to carry…

Just give me some paper, glue, and an idea and I’m off! This is one I did with a lot of Tim Holtz goodies (full supply list at bottom of post).

The great thing? You can use whatever. Paper, paint it, keep it simple, get crazy complicated… endless possibilities!

Mostly mine is covered with grungepaper or kraft resist paper (inked with spiced marmalade – above the roof looks more yellow than it is!) and edged with distress stickles. Some bits of grungepaper were dry embossed and cut out to form my ‘fence’ and my tree.

The tree is inked with brushed corduroy + coated in glossy accents. I do LOVE creating with grunge paper! It’s flexible and tough. A perfect choice for me.

I didn’t record any details of my creative process on this project, but I *WILL* be recording a Christmas gingerbread house inspired video soon. I do love my holiday crafting…

Here’s a list of all the supplies I used:

  1. I had resisted the urge to buy Tm’s Halloween Kraft resist until today. The layout had me me wavering and this did me in.Hubby would block you and Tammy T but thankfully he loves Tim stuff so he lets me buy all of it I think I need.

  2. May that birdhouse is ADORABLE! I’m partial to birdhouses myself but haven’t did any myself. You’ve given me the urge to try it!

  3. What a great idea! Love using that as a foundation, as it can hold up to the weight of sheets of grungeboard too vs a paper bird house.

What kind of glue did you use on this to hold all the sheets together w/o sliding, etc? I’d love to try one of these at home! 🙂

  4. Crafty power tape by scrapbook adhesives! Super strong double sided tape no dry time needed.

  5. I love it what a great crafty gift for a few of my Oct birthday friends. I’ll have to run out and get a few birdhouses so I can get them ready for the end of the month!

    Thank you for the inspiration!
