Have you seen the Basic Grey November newsletter? You can check it out here: http://www.basicgrey.com/clientuploads/CNL_1109.pdf
Pssst – I made a layout with their swoon-worthy Eskimo Kisses line that is featured this month in it. I pretty much squealed when I saw Kelly Goree’s call to create a page for the sketch… and I was even peppier when she gave me the green light to do it…
It felt good to put some of my Basic Grey stash to such good use. I just love how this page came out and YES! I used a holiday line for a non-holiday page. It can totally be done – just have to pick the right stuff.
“I Becca” is because if you ask her if she’s various things (animals, minnie mouse, etc) she says “I becca!” So cute. Had to document it. I’ve got a few tips to share about the layout too:
* Die cut paper (could be any kind of paper really) approx 11 1/2 x 11 wide. I used the back side of it instead of the colored side.
* Kraft cardstock cut 9 1/2 x 8 1/2 and corners are rounded & edged with smooch ink.
* strip of patterned paper below photos (which are 4×6) is about 1 1/4 x 6
* Strip of patterned paper at right of photos could be substituted with a ribbon or border sticker
* I used a big rub-on under the title letters, but a stamp or sticker could work too.
* I placed the bigger rhinestones and pearls first, then the smaller ones. Don’t worry about perfect or being even – I like the random look.
I think the rhinestones & pearls along the edge is my favorite part.
Excuse me, I need to go fondle make another layout with this line of paper ASAP.
I love the Basic Grey papers!!
The page is incredible! Becca is so cute!
Another winning layout – but then, with such an adorable subject how can you go wrong? I confess I haven’t been swooning over pearls but you’re definitely making me rethink that – the pearl/rhinestone border is my favourite part too! Off to read the BG newsletter 🙂
That is beautiful! What is the best way to get the pearls and rhinestones to stay on?
They’re self adhesive so I didn’t have to worry about it – but when I have regular (not adhesive) ones I just dot liquid adhesive in a line then place the jewels on the dots of glue.
That is one beautiful layout! I love those gems down the side too. The whole page is a great color combo and I love love love that background paper.
So adorable!! You have magic in your hands!
What a sweet LO of your daughter! I think my favorite part is that I can picture her saying “I Becca” when I look at the photo’s – there is something so honest in her expression. Wonderful!
Amazing layout!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Oh its stunning – I think the pears and bling are my favourite part too.
Beautiful! Congrats!!
Fabulous – love the bling!
just beautiful!! you’re SO talented!!
This is gorgeous! Congrats on getting into the BG newsletter!
Funniest thing.. I DID recognize your daughter in the BG Newsletter. Congrats!
Great job and congrats on your Basic Grey celebrityhood! I love the pearl/jewel border, too. Great idea.
Love to see holiday paper used in such a versatile way. I used xmas paper for my wedding album, and we were married in August. 🙂 It’s not hard to cover anything too thematic and highlight the parts that are on topic to make it work.
Hi May. I did a scraplift of your layout for my weekly sketch post. Check out http://www.theeverydayscrapper.com.
