Thank You challenge (stamped card)

I love coloring a stamped image with watercolor. Here I used just one color and faded it out then stitched the butterfly onto this card.

The other notable technique – a favorite – is the background. I stamped the butterflies in pistachio ink, then stamped my sentiment with embossing ink. I then covered the sentiment with black embossing powder and shook off the excess. When I did this? In a few spots where the ink was wet on the butterflies it stuck. I just LOVE the contrast and detail this adds having those bits of black embossing powder here and there.

I’m really happy with this card – and it is the perfect entry for me this week as our challenge is “Thank you” or in my case – thankful. Hope you have a lovely and creative week!

Simon Says…

It’s my birthday week, everyone celebrate!

Actually, this week the challenge is to use a Simon Says Exclusive product. I chose their new striped background stamp you see on this card – and oh man. Combine it with ombre ink and you get allll the awesome!! Since it is my birthday week I decided to pull in bits and pieces, add in some stitching and gold spray, and just have a party on a card!

Now the big choice: who to send this to?

Funny thing – my coral project didn’t want to be photographed. So weird – but it wanted to be mysterious and slightly blurry when all other projects photographed that day didn’t. Spooky!

Anyhow – I used Tim Holtz “Abandoned Coral” aka the inspiration this week and painted a starfish, used it on my background, and inked up my ribbon topper!

This tag was a major party – had so much fun mixing & matching my stash to create it!

Prima Relic #1: on a mixed media canvas!

Coming *SO SOON* to the Simon Says Stamp? The precious! Let me be more specific: the Relics line from Prima that I am so very in love with! Since it is an “anything goes” week on the challenge blog I’m sharing my first piece. All I did was to adhere it to the canvas. Then coat everything in gesso. Then just layer colors. Loads of colors. That really is it!

Happy Easter card + technique

I love a good technique – this is no exception! You see I watercolored this background originally on a piece of paper that had been stenciled with paste. Then I discovered I could “stamp” it onto cardstock with the help from some Distress Spray (Picket Fence) and make prints. Oh, Oh so HAPPY! I adore how this card turned out too!
