This week’s challenge…

DSC_4097 copy

When I think of homegrown summer (this week’s challenge) I got to wondering if I could make an apple or other fruit tree out of the new Hero Arts tree stamps. Some distress ink (and waterproof dye ink for the trunk) later… and the answer is yes! I’ve got an apple tree ready to harvest!

Supplies Used:

I did the apples in Lobster dye ink – LOVING this red! Want to see a tutorial how I’ve been playing with layering ink colors on this stamp? I have a YouTube video up (link) sharing more.

Here’s my finished card-

Challenge: Make a Plan!

DSC_2657

This week our challenge is to “make a plan” which is both hilarious and oddly fitting as I type out this blog post. You see, I had dates mixed up and didn’t realize THIS week was this challenge. AH, but it’s ok! Here’s a fun fact: I often “clean up” scraps off my desk by creating cards and small projects. Then whenever I’m photographing projects I will shoot pictures of them and here’s the secret…

I have emergency blog content should I have a crazy busy week or whatnot, a card if I need to send one or a tag to pop onto a last minute gift. Ahhhh yes… and a little something should I forget to make a plan and craft something for the challenge!

I only have two links today – because the paper + bits I used were WAY OLD! Which is good – always good to use up stash! Also, that really was my plan!

Project #3: Simon Says Stamp August Kit

Continuing on with my new monthly feature – here is my card with the August 2015 Simon Says Stamp kit! This one I made as I just kind of picked at bits & leftover pieces. What I like about this kind of creating is that it uses up what is on the desk, puts my kit to use, and sometimes opens up new ideas like in this case how much I like the “hello” stamp with paint!

This is a really fun kit – next week I will be back with a “leftovers/now what” post #4 with it. For more information on the kit itself or to purchase the kit you can visit the Simon Says Stamp website.

ScanNCut card: Love those cut-outs!

Disclosure: I am a paid consultant for Brother International Corporation and have received a ScanNCut from Brother to evaluate. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own and based on my use of the product.

Today I’m on my ScanNCut playing. Making shapes and experimenting with what does (and doesn’t) cut from the machine. Of course when experimenting I always try and actually make something! In this case a watercolored card is what turned up!

What I’m super into right now are projects like this that can be done with color mediums + cardstock. Something SO satisfying about starting with no pre-made embellishments or dies and just dreaming up the whole thing! I really like the layered look that I got with coloring some pieces and all the detail. Oh yes – and that “love” is just my handwriting cut on pink cardstock thanks to the ScanNCut.

What crafty projects are you into lately?

Ranger Watermark Ink technique

I was avoiding real work. Had a scrap of watercolor paper. Wanted to see what a watermark ink pad would do…

Well apparently this is a real technique (aka, I didn’t invent it!) but I haven’t seen it done on watercolor paper! I shared this in depth in Camp Scrap, but today I’ve got a specific example to share as well!
