I’m forever recommending Lord of Scoundrels (aka one of best romances EVAH!) and right now? kindle version is 1.99. STEAL!!! Ok, but let’s talk about some other good works of fiction that I’ve enjoyed recently…
I was actually sent this book to read for review – loved it. Yeah, Lord & Lady Spy was a super fun read – LOVED it. A couple in regency England finds out the other is also a top spy… awesomeness ensues. Better yet? the Kindle e-version is ON SALE! Less than $3. STEAL! the paperback is just 6.99 – not bad either! link to amazon
Wild Ride by Bob Mayer & Jennifer Crusie is a perfect Halloween-time read. Based in a theme park where demons are locked up and weird stuff is going down it was an interesting read. Not quite mystery, definitely not a romance… just general fiction and one wild ride indeed. link to amazon
Speaking of Halloween, if you’re looking for something dark – I still recommend Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series and the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. Want more romance with that darkness? and a lot of dragons? Then check my new obsession – GA Aiken’s Dragon series! I’m hating the covers, but wow. I love the seriously kick ass heroines she features – girl power!
I am ALWAYS looking for good reads of all kinds. Lately I’ve been unable to find good contemporary set fiction or mysteries that satisfy. Right now, I have my eye set on the cheesy holiday novels that have started to show up. I’ve got about 5 to read for review at this time. Here’s hoping I find some good ones! if I find any good ones (or good new holiday movies/specials) I will be sure to share!!
I always enjoy your book recommendations – thanks May!
My favs are James Patterson, John Sandford, David Baldacci, Patricia Cornwall, Janet Evanovich, Nora Roberts, and of course, Diana Gabaldon.
I agree, there seems to be a dearth of interesting contemporary fiction at the moment; I’ve also found myself eyeing those holiday specials, desperate for something to satisfy. One contemporary author who’s stood out recently is Jill Shalvis, although I have yet to read her Magnetism/Animal Attraction series. Her heroines are not quite so stereotypical; Double Play and Slow Heat, both baseball-themed and a couple years old, were my introduction to her.
I finally enjoyed Wild Ride, although had trouble getting into it at first (my threshhold for suspending disbelief must be lower than yours); Agnes and the Hitman is still my favourite Crusie/Mayer book.
